i have the PSP version and was wondering if anyone knows if the PSP version is the same as the PS2 version of monster hunter?

IIRC the PSP version is a port of the sequel, Monster Hunter 2.

I thought it was a port of Monster Hunter G, only with slight modifications like the inclusion of the Yian Garuga.
