I posted thisd CD in the FINDS thread about a month back, but I made these scans and thought I'd put them here.

White Knuckle Scorin'

It has a 14-page book with a little illustrated and, at times, slightly perverted story of Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool (who everyone thinks has a "dynamite bod") on Dinosaur Island where The Princess is captured by Bowser and, while in captivity, teaches Lemmy and Bowser's other kids how to read.

Now THAT'S a weird Mario collectible...very un-Nintendo, especially for the time. Pretty funny, though! LOL

It may seem funny on paper. However, a lot of Britny Fox/hair metal fans legitimately bid that Nintendo cd up on Ebay. Being familiar with the band, the song they did for the cd was an unreleased tune that never got used on ANY of their four studio albums. A cult favorite that they play live, but you can't find it anywhere but on White Knuckle Scorin' cd. So all these old hair metal fans who dig Britny Fox make up probably 40-50% of the people who will bid up that cd whenever it shows up on Ebay. I should know, since I have a friend who spent a small fortune to get that cd a few years ago, just for that Britny Fox song. It never mattered to him that it was some Nintendo collectible. All it takes is a couple dozen hair metal collectors to boost the market a little.

The Roy Orbison track on that CD is killer

Rest looks fun too, I am still quite the Trixter fan >_>

Y'know what's sick?

I BOUGHT A BRITNY FOX CD YESTERDAY. It is unfortunately scratched so much that track one is unrippable so I'm throwing it out, but still, I only got it 'cause of the name. :P

That said... those comics man. They're creepy.

Now post the MP3s.

Here, I won't post the mp3, but if you check out this guy's site, he has a link to hear the full song, "Ignorance is Bliss." It's the only song which has anything to do with Nintendo. I remember when I found it ($1.00 at the local "common market" [junk store]) , I put this song in mycar CD player and was like "WHAT THE F***!?"

Now, I have to admit it's a great track. Most the songs are decent, actually. And I love Roy Orbison.

Scroll down a bit for "Ignorance is Bliss."

For the record, there was also a cassette version of this. I was a wee lad at the time and was in a record store (one that's actually still around, in fact) and spotted it. My mom bought it for me. I don't know where it is at the moment but it's probably stashed somewhere in the house.

I have this on CD, I used to have another on Cassette, very similar.

Something along the lines of Mushroom kingdom hits. Anyone got scans of this? or a link?

Why not scroll up a bit, the OP of this thread scanned the whole book, and a link a few posts down.

No. A 2nd CD/Cassette. Not White Knuckle Scorin' another one.

Ok...that comic was really messed up in the head at times. It makes me want to do something like that for one of my random mix CDs...

lol the tag for the auction made note of this so when the wife saw the paypal she was like why the hell are you buying a sheena easton cd, then she looked at the auction and it made more sense.

I remember this CD being shown/talked about in an issue of Nintendo Power.

I think you could win the CD or a trip to see some artist off the CD (sadly, *NOT* Sheena Easton)

I remember having this on cassette, too, or something similar. I used to love the Roy Orbison song.

Thanks for necroing this topic. I had heard the song Ignorance is Bliss via a flash cartoon posted on youtube. It was so weird I wondered if it was fan made. Lo and behold, it comes from a weird Nintendo CD. I knew only a licensed soundtrack could produce a story based off of Super Mario World involving oil tycoons.

By the way, isn't it strange to have a moral on a CD comic like that?

I still own this on cassette. I always thought that it was funny that you were supposed to play this stuff while you concentrated on doing well in the game.

I remember buying this in a used music store in '97, thinking it may be rare and worth something. It still isn't much more than the $5 or so I paid for it. :)
