I'm looking to spend around $100 on someone in my family and want to know what are some people's recomendations for some rare games for either sega CD, Saturn, PS1, TurboGFX 16, Nintendo, or SNES. I want to get him one/some of the hardest to get games but not spend over $100-150.

he likes (around this order):

-fighting games
-action (sidescroller or 3d action)
-some rpgs (depending on how good and collectible they are)
-shmups
-adventure
-everything else
-doesn't like sports games

so if anybody can recomend something really rare and fun to play for that price range, let me know

Well, for the NES, the 4 Dragon Warrior games are great. Also, for the SNES, Earthbound is a great RPG that should only cost you 50 dollars.

If its for a gift I'd get one of the Lunars for PS1.
They come in pretty looking boxes, makes a really nice gft.

Earthbound is a great RPG that should only cost you 50 dollars.

Maybe loose, but complete be prepared to drop $150 - $200. I sold my copy last November for $180.

Lords of Thunder for the TG-CD / TurboDuo is excellent and would be a good game to start out with, less than $40 too.

Are you looking for Saturn imports or domestic?

Domestically for the Saturn
Guradian Heroes
Dragon Force
Shining Force 3 (actually any of the shining games on the Saturn seem to be increasing in value The other two being Wisdom and the Holy Ark)
House of the dead
Burning Rangers
Panzer Saga Will be slightly more than the 100 dollars.

What you could do is spread the 100 dollars over 4 or 5 moderately priced games I know as a collector of Saturn games I'd rather get 4 uncommon games than 1 rare game.

While this could go in any direction really, since you listed fighting games first and of the systems you listed, the Saturn is certianly the one that jumps out when I think of fighting games.

There's some great domestic ones (SF Alpha games or X-Men, for instance), but import may be an even better way to go. If this guy doesn't have a modded Saturn, you could get him a 4-in-1 cart to start with which will let him play imports as well as give him the 4MB RAM expansion needed for some of the best fighters from Capcom or SNK. Combine that with a few of the best import fighters--Marvel vs Street Fighter, Waku Waku 7 and maybe Pocket Fighter would be my recommendations for variety and interest--and you've got a nice $100 gift set.
