I purchased a NeoGeo and a couple games from an auction on ebay. The seller had good feedback. He also sold 85 NeoGeo games in one lot. The buyer had posted positive feedback and is now selling them individually. So everything seemed pretty safe.
I sent a postal money order by Xpresspost. So I have tracking etc. Because the seller insisted it get there within a few days.
The seller contacts me and acknowledged receipt. But he said the bank has to hold it for 7 days before cashing it. This seemed fishy. But I went along with it. Then after the seven days he says it will be two more days. Now I'm getting really worried. Finally today he says the bank had lost it temporarily and now will cash it by Tuesday. This doesn't look too good.
So I filled out a non receipt form with ebay. If things don't work out I should get $175 back. Which won't cover everything but will be better than losing it all. I have also filed mail fraud. Is there anything else I can do?
I've never been ripped off for this much. So I want to minimize the impact as much as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
