Can you believe it's been a year already? This has certainly been the fastest year of my life. Not a good thing at my ripe old age.

Anyhoo... if you've been around for that long you may remember the photos I took of the store just prior to my moving in. Well, one year later i've done my best to take the photos in the same exact places to show the change in the place one year later. i'll try to make this an annual thing, even!

PS I love my store :)

I'm guessing the original outline is working out very well by the looks of it. You also have a huge archive of games down below for backup. Congrats and the best of luck for continuing growth!

Looks great! A friend of mine goes to Monteclair and tells me he frequents the place, says he loves it.

One of these days Ill make the trek up. Congrats on a successful year!

I wish you the best on your game store. I would love to live closer, but I will make the visit someday to your "Store of Doom". (I live in Washington state). Awsome pics, you truly have one absolutely amazing setup.

Congrats i hope you can keep it in buisness.

Hard to compete these days with giants like eb&gamestop.

It's one thing we need more in.. the u.s is mom&pop stores selling video games.

Here's another person who wishes he could visit your store. Alas, I live near San Diego.

It's looking great!

Amen! Need more stores like this, and people need to support the mom & pops!

Congrats on your first year, Joe! Hope to make it there **someday**

Congratulations man! I believe I told you I used to shop at "Outer Limits" for years. But, I have to say, OL moving out and you moving in was a HUGE improvement. In short, I like your store better :)

The first year in any buisiness is a tough one (I know, I used to run a computer repair/sales location), but you've crossed that bridge. Again, congratulations and as always, Game ON!

Congrats Joe on the one year anniversary. :) The store is looking great. Popped in there the other day to pick up a couple of things. With Christmas coming I should be stopping by a little more. ;)

Congrats on your 1-year anniv, bud. My only question is- when does phase 2 start? (i.e. setting up franchises) :P

Ya know, if there was a store such as yours back in the 80s, a pack of wild circus monkeys couldn't have pulled me from it. So, may your store continue to thrive for 50 more years (at which point you will be at a ripe old age...).

Truthfully, offering franchises of some sort wouldn't be a horrible idea (at least as long as I get to open one here in Dallas!!)!!

Joe, so after a year, can you offer up any advice or lessons learned? I've seen a couple other members here opening stores and I know of at least one that is considering it strongly. Would be nice to know how it has really affected you and what you would do differently/again.

And once you've got your franchise, the sooner you become a multinational the better! ;)

No it isn't. Once people realize that he's not overcharging for games, they'll flock to his store. :)

'Grats, man.

You know, that's something I've been thinking about doing. I think I'll get it onto my myspace blog. Technically my one-year anniversary is November 26th so I'll try to do something for then. There really is a lot I can offer prospective store owners, and I"m a "share it" kind of guy, after all :)

I saw this on your blog about a week ago. (it happens to be the only only blog I regularly read) It's quite impressive how the store has come along. With this rate of growth, I can only imagine how little space will be left for future NAVA's. ;)

Do you do a lot of trade-in business? If so, do you have some way of monitoring (and beating) the trade-in values offered by EB/GS?

I imagine you do a good bit of eBay sales, as anything valuable that gets traded in (NFR carts, rare items, etc...) probably would sell quicker on the 'bay than in the store.

Are you getting any PS3's at launch?

How hard is it to get in-demand new items?

As you can see, I've got a lot of questions that pertain to the running of a game store LOL

If I ever have the chance i'll come to your store but I guess it has to run for many many more years then :P

Congrats Joe, you deserve it.. Your story / store has been my inspiration while I build my brick and mortar store in Corpus Christi, TX. The year has been a hard one to get my paperwork/funding done, but Q1 2007 I hope to have it opened as well!

I will be sure to post a message when I get my store open as well.

Congrats again, and I am happy to hear you still love your store!
