Hoping someone out there might know specifically what might be wrong with an Odyssey2 system I picked up. Now I knew when buying it, it was listed as "non-working" but I'm hoping it's a simple fix. Basically when the system is powered up with any cartridge in it (or without), the screen fills up with garbage, a mix of alphanumeric stuff & some graphics. This happens all the time with all the different cartridges I have. One of the suggestions I received under a different forum was to clean the cartridge port which I did but it didn't help. The cartridges are clean as well. Is the system basically a lost cause or is this something can be readily fixed? Any help would be appreciated -- thanks!

If the cartridge port contacts are clean, then the system is basically toast. There is no 'easy' fix for a fried O2 system.

Sorry...

I had a feeling that was going to be the answer after I cleaned the cartridge port. Oh well .. :(

It's not necessarily toast. There are a couple of things you can do. You need to open up the unit, and find where the video cable attaches to the board, you'll notice that it makes a very hard kink there. disconnect the cable, and run a different cable. Try it with a coax-rf adaptor instead of the stock switchbox, and try it then. It may work. Since you're getting some video output, I bet its the video cable. You may want to try an NES power supply too, since they are the same. Good luck! Let me know how it turns out.
