I was getting ready to post this as well. Last year the thread was started first week of November, so I was starting to get worried. This will be my first time participating and I can't wait.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I figured I would chime in before everyone gets their hopes up.

I'm 95% sure there will be no DP Secret Santa this year. From what I understand, it is an incredibly tasking and stressful job that has become something too large to expect any person to handle. If you think it only involves pairing up a hundred people and sending out a few emails, think again.

I'm just as disappointed as everyone else, as it is something that can be very fulfilling when it works. :(

On the bright side though, there should be a 12 days of DP X-Mas Contest. And if there isn't I'll personally make sure that there is at least something special with a few prizes involved. You have my word.

Maybe it would be more feasible if the time deadline wasn't so strict? I know a lot of the fun of it is being able to open the package on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but personally, I would rather have a late Secret Santa exchange than none at all. I'm used to receiving gifts past Christmas, so it doesn't bother me any. I imagine a large part of the stress of the project is worrying about everyone getting their gifts by Christmas, but if the deadline was more loose, perhaps it would be easier on the host? Obviously there'd have to be some kind of deadline, like by the end of January or something.

I'm not trying to pressure anybody, just throwing some ideas out. :)

I think it's too late to do it now. Three weeks to have everyone say they're in, have the matchups made, buy or gather what you're sending and get them to everyone by Christmas Eve? That's asking a lot. It's probably best to wait until next year.

Well, it's nothing we should try to throw together at the last minute. It's probably better that we wait for next year, when the forums are more stable, and people can take their time and put something cool together. (And hope that you get Sniderman as your SS!!!)
