Who's heading out to january nava??
I already have my plane ticket, so i'm 100% for sure in. No punking out like i did in august.
So far, I've heard word from a few people that they'll be there.

---EDIT REQUESTED BY VECTORMAN---
---BEGIN EDITS----

Last I spoke to Joe, the date for January NAVA is january 27th. It damn well better not change - my ticket's non refundable =\

As far as I know I'm still going to go, I don't think plans are going to change either. At this point I think the only X factor is going to be the winter weather.

Hopefully your forum name won't be on your plane ticket.

Anyway, there is a possibility I will be there, but I won't know either way for a while. I am hoping there will be a December/New Years NAVA and I would be able to make that one.

Also, there hasn't been any "official" announcement that I have seen, so maybe you can fill us in on the details - you should edit your original post to included them too.

I know the messages are going out - two forum members stopped by the store last night and mentioned it. You might want to update or re-add your email address to the distribution list here:

Just wanted to announce one thing. If anyone going to NAVA wants to order a GOAT store arcade stick, and places said order before january 15th, I can deliver it at nava. This would result in not having to pay for shipping, since i'll be hand delivering.
I cannot guarantee availability after january 15th, as I am bloody busy, and the week leading up to my departure is going to be mostly working, since i took half the week off for the trip.

I definitely won't be attending the January meeting. I'm taking my son camping that weekend and since it's a father/son camping trip, no chance my wife will be bailing me out this time. I'm happy I got to go to the December meeting even if it was only for a short time.

Again, i'll have a ton of random crap to get rid of. Including a giant box of cords, controllers and so forth.

Joe, if you'd like to strike a deal like we did last time I'd be up for it. I don't feel like bringing anything home.

See you all there!

Anyone going to have a guitar hero setup there? I don't feel like hauling mine 1,500 kilometres.

If you bring yours I'll bust mine out too. We can all wear Atari jackets, it will be like a local gang that will bewilder and confuse the actual local gangs.

Plus I need to get that GP2X card copied for you, I should have that done for you and AJ tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure Joe has a GH Bundle strictly for the store, and a couple extra guitars too. He'll have to confirm it though, because those boxes he had on top of the cabinet in the back may have been empty for all I know. If you wanted to play GHII, I'd bring my disc.

I do have all my GH stuff at the store now, including two wireless guitars. Save that space in your car for more trade bait, Jeff!

I'm not the Guitar Freaks/Hero player I once was though. Last year's MS attack killed some of the feeling in my left hand. I still love the games and can get by but it's not the same :(

What do we do at NAVA meetings...

1) We play. There are game systems already set up everywhere - you can play on one of three or four home systems, PC's in the internet gaming area, or on the arcade cabinets. Sometimes we run impromptu tournaments, too.

2) We trade. I urge everyone to bring their "extra stuff" or any other trading materials. If there's something in particular you need or have and want to communicate to the other NAVA attendees post it here.

3) We chat. Gamers who get together and share their stories and opinions are what NAVA was founded on.

It's noon to midnight and the peak is usually 6pm.

Well, also if you have a PSP or Nintendo DS, we usually do multiplayer sessions with those. It can't hurt to bring it! Bring trades if you got'em too.

Also, I am coming with a large amount of Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance boxes. Great for filling holes in your collection, or to up the resale value of your cart only games. (ahem. Joe. ahem.) So, yeah. Game Boy boxes. Be ready.

I'll take suggestions. NES, SNES, XBox and PS2 work best because I've got wireless controllers for them (and with the chatter about Guitar Heroes PS2 looks like a good candidate).

Just about anything is fair game though.

Likewise pumped! This should be a great NAVA. EVERYONE is coming :) Here are some updates.

EVENT: There's going to be a camera crew doing interviews for an upcoming retrogaming show tentatively called "RESET". They mainly want to discuss classic games that weren't so popular but great nonetheless and some series in whole such as Shining Force, Ninja Gaiden, Zelda, etc. so WEAR YOUR DIGITAL PRESS T-SHIRTS!

BONUS: All NAVA attendees get 10% off anything except brand new consoles. Just use the secret phrase "NAVA built my hot rod" at the register. With a nod and a wink, the secret bonus gets applied.

WANTED: There are two things that I need. One I'll bet almost everyone has, one I'll bet almost no one has:

1. Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt carts - I'll pay a dollar each for these. I give them away with every NES I sell and have run almost completely dry! Who'd-a thunk it.

2. A Vectrex Controller - I just need one. I've got a unit with no controller, just looking to make it "whole".

See yas in less than a week!

Nothing big, starting out small then if people take enough interst to it we will invest more money in to the production. (get some real cameras etc)So that said I was going to ask some of the attendees what they think about these nava meetings and about retro games/gaming. Hey Guys,
Me and my buddy are the ones doing the show. Were not affiliated with anyone we are just a couple of guys trying to do a show on the web. At first it will be on youtube until we get our website going with enough bandwith for show downloads. We both work in television but are not doing these for either of the companies we work for. Just going to show up with a consumer grade mini dv cam and mic do are thing, then hang out. If we get enough positive feedback on our show we will then step it up put more money into the project and buy better equipment. This won't be your run of the mill show though with bad audio crazy camera movement bad focus etc. Production value is a priority to us.
