I am thinking of picking up one of those PS1/LCD screen combos off ebay for like $30 and just putting it in the back of my car as something cool/original for friends/siblings that i happen to be driving around have something to do.

I live in Wisconsin so outside in the winter it gets sometimes as low as 0 degress, and in the summer gets as high as 95 or 100.

Anyways, am i right to assume that temperature would negatively affect this system working? And if so at what temperatures would this happen?

I may just pick one up anyways and have it in the car during the spring and autumn months when the temperature is consistently between 55-70, but i dont know.

LCD probably would not be able to withstand extreme cold.

I've had newer systems, DC, Xbox and PS2, subject to cold temperatures (32 F) for a day or two at a time, and have never had a problem, though I wait till they warm up a bit until I use them. I would think that the PSOne would be able to handle the cold, as long as it wasn't subject to moisture/water from wet boots or something like that. As far as the LCD goes, I would think it would be okay too, especially since many cars now have them built in. Though you wouldn't know anything for sure until you tried it, but worse cade you would only be out $60 or so.

Probably the worse threat is moisture settling on/in the screen or system. Id just bring it inside if you know you wont be using it.

Maybe keep the playstation in some kind of protective bag when its not in use. It wont totally keep it from getting cold, but should keep it a bit warmer than if it wasnt in some kind of covering.

well, if the screen is made for travel, as it appears to be, you would have to assume it would be fine...

they now make cars, suvs, etc that have dvd players and screens built into them and people own those vehicles in cold weather and im sure that stuff is okay, so your ps1 combo should be alright...
