My handle is "digitalpress", but Digital Press is much bigger than I am, especially in the manly regions :)
We produced our 50th issue last month, subscribers are just getting their blockbuster 50-pager now. It's an awesome milestone in my opinion, I'm very proud of this crew. 50 issues, 7 editions of the Guide, one video game (definitely 2 and maybe 3 by the end of this year), one kick-ass website, and even a music CD to our credit. And it only took 12 years to get here!
I was having this discussion with my wife last week. Just how many people "work" for Digital Press? The paper issue staff is about 15 writers. The Guide has nearly 15 more. Add the "Advance" edition and there's 15 more. Then there's the forum moderators and admins, that's roughly 10 more. There are also five web content columnists and two production people (one of whom is my wife). Over 60 "staff"!
And you know something? I appreciate every last one of them. From the brilliant artwork and editorial direction of Dave "Arcade Antics" Giarrusso, to the technical expertise of Larry "retrogmr" Anderson, to the PC Engine database contributions of Nate "maxlords" VanLindt, to the musings of Ian "ian" Baronofsky. Everyone contributes something very important, they're part of a team that I think has built an interesting footnote for gaming history. We're surely going to be remembered as "those guys and gals who did it for the love of the hobby". And I can die happy if that's the case. Poor, but happy.
Sorry to ramble, but this seemed like a good time to thank everyone who has contributed to Digital Press past, present, and future - including all of you here who have created a community that might not always see eye-to-eye, but certainly has something in common.
To each of you, GAME ON!
