has anyone ever considered compiling every tourney/vs. fighter (like street fighter, mortal kombat, tekken) into a list much like i did with the sister genre, beat 'em ups? i've considered doing it in my spare time, with much less enthusiasm than the BEUS, since i don't enjoy vs. fighters as well. however, i think it would be nice for someone to document the large and often obscure genre (outside of the half dozen well-known franchises). i've discovered quite a few titles myself hunting for BEUS, so i could offer some input to whoever undergoes such a task.

i was tempted to do a shump one, but its probably been done before, and there are actually forums for shumps who would have a much more enjoyable time and a head start with their own experience.

thoughts?

Yes, I'm sure someone somewhere in the world has probably considered doing that at some time. :P

Actually, the good Mr. Death Adder invested some time into that activity a while back, but it seems he just gave up (http://web.archive.org/web/20020324172622/http://dfg.the-underdogs.org/) after a while.

i can understand why. its very exhausting and annoying searching through all these unreviewed, barely photographed games. i've compiled a text file so far that's like 90K. almost the size of my beat 'em up textfile which i spent years on (and was much more enjoyable).

So like, just a list of 1-on-1 fighting games? Or do you mean detailed information or something?

I always thought it would be neat to have a website that documented fighting game characters and listed all their moves and such in the different games they were in... although every time I mention it, people just tell me it's a waste of time with GameFAQs already having all that information...

Gamespot's History of Street Fighter is quite thorough in that respect.

this, like my beat 'em up list, is just an alphabetical catalogue of every console with a vs. fighter, and the vs. fighters on that console. no descriptions or reviews or anything.
