View Full Version : Help name an Arcade game for me

Ok, this post is actually for a friend. He believes this was a 90s Arcade game, pretty sure actually. It was a side scrolling run n gun type game however in the begining of the game you get to select your weapon and when you did it would say the name of that particular weapon. Kinda like when you pick up a gun Metal Slug and it say "SHOTGUN" however this is NOT Metal Slug and this only happenend when you selected your weapon in the beinging of the game. Could of said it when you continue to, he doesn't recall. Metal Slug was my first guess but thats not it. Sorry for such a brief discription, this is all he has. I am sure someone here can figure it out.

Sounds like it could be Rolling Thunder 2 or 3. One of them had a weapon select like you describe at the beginning.

Maybe it's Gunforce 2.

It almost sounds like Midnight Resistance, but you select weapons in the weapon room. From 1989, I think. Runs on lo-cost hardware similar to Chelnov, the first Robocop, Karnov, etc.
Also, the shotgun is a poor choice in that game.
I don't think there is any voice for a weapons pickup in GunForce 2, isufje, and I certainly don't remember a "choose your weapon" sequence for the beginning, either.
