Hey everyone...I am a first time poster. I come here in search of someone who might be able to help me as I can tell by looking around that there are some knowledgeble people here. What I have here is a NES controller that I got back in the late 80's as a present (I actually got two but one was tossed long ago). I have never seen anything like this for the NES or for any system for that matter. I was hoping that someone could help me find out what this is and if it is worth anything. Thank you for your time. Jordan

I believe that is a Nintendo Hot Seat made by Power Inc.

There are no company stickers on it or any identifying marks as there never has been. I think I vaguely remember the guy who gave it to me saying something about his company was hired to build a prototype for a Japanese company. I would ask him but he passed away 10-15 years ago.

Not a prototype just a hot seat.

Welcome to the forums!

The controller seat that you have there is the Simulator 1 Action Chair from a company called Simulator Technology Inc. It's not a prototype, but it is a rare item. ;)

It's not 'cause I owned a Hot Seat in the past.

The Hot Seat is made entirely in plastic and have a different shape, while this one have two handles and it's in leather.

Is this worth hanging on to or selling because, as it stands now, the chair has been taking up needed closet space for years now?

If you're having space issues you could always give it to me.

I'll even pay for shipping ;)

Well that's up to you really, if you're not going to use it or displayed it then you may as well sell it. Personally even if it were worthless it looks like an awesome conversation piece. I'd definately hold onto it.

After giving it a good dusting anyway. :P

The chair is interesting and does get some questions when I occasionally pull it out of hiding but it really is quite large and besides that, this chair has only been used 2 or 3 times since I took it out of the box 18 years ago. I really don't even know what the chair is worth or anything like that but I wouldn't just give it away if only for the simple fact that it does have some sentimental value.

Oh, so it really is a prototype. And you tossed the other one? Bummer. Hindsight...20/20, blah bah.

I think you could probably sell it and make an OK amount on it. How much would you want?

You know, how much to cover the sentimental value you have with it? ;D

These haven't sold for that much in the past, unfortunately. A new one, still unassembled in its original packaging, was sold for around $70 on eBay about a year ago, after having been listed once before (did not sell the first time at $50 starting bid). Interest in accessories for the NES has risen in the past year, though. If I were you, I'd put it up on eBay, as the accessory collectors that pay top dollar for these items tend to check eBay auctions more than the DP forums.
