Just ordered a couple. I have had no problem but I'll get the free ones anyways.
I have no idea how people are snapping these things. I haven't even come close to swinging as hard as people are in those youtube videos.

I guess I'll get some though I have had no problems, I have yet to drop/let go of one of the controllers.

Me neither. But two of the straps, the knot/cord is fraying and coming undone.

Saw this on Joystick.com..The newer ones are a bit thicker in size and have more resistant thread from what I could see. Nothing major in difference besided that.

I ordered mine as well, even though I have had no problem due to the strap. However without the strap I can see these things flying. It happened to my son, but it didn't fly into the tv, just the floor, he wasn't wearing the strap. He knows better now though.

why did they even design the straps in such a stupid way to begin with? the new straps are little improvement to their inherently bad design... and there are plenty of ways they could've done it that would've been infinitely better

Millions are already made so it wont be rare. Even if gets rare (like everyone throws it) i seriously doubt it would have any higher value than max $5.
