I noticed something stupid in GameSpot's GC review.

Wii version Review: 8.8
GameCube version Review: 8.9

But they had this to say:

"You can't go wrong with either version of the game, but if you're still trying to decide, the Wii version is just a bit better."

Typical inconsistency of our times... This world has moved on, Gunslingers;)

Perhaps the scores are relative to their respective systems/generations and not to each other?

At least, that's the way I understand their review structure.

Yes. But, the GameCube version's high point is how good the graphics are for that system. The Wii's high point is the motion sensitivity. The other points (length of game, gameplay, story, etc.) don't count because they are on both versions. They should have the same score (IMO).

I'm not going crazy about this, I'm just saying....

I won't lock it yet, but if for some reason theres any actual shit slinging goin on i'll be glad to lock and punish accordingly.

**back on track**

I've got the Wii version and have thought about the Cube one for controling aspects (being able to pick stuff up easier and not having to slash so damn much). The .1 just means that they didn't skimp out on the cube version and put as much effort into it as they did with the Wii one. Good news all around in my opinion.

Good.

I've been wondering which I should get too. Yeah, there's another topic about which to get, sorry, this topic is supposed to be about reviews. I don't like the idea of just swinging the remote and the same kind of slice happens on the screen. I would rather the motion be 1:1. I'm sure there's like a few different types of swings but not really what I want. I'll probably get the Wii version just to try it.

On topic:

The average on gamerankings for the cube version is a little lower than the Wii version. IGN gave it the same score, GS gave it .1 higher.

Which version will have the better score in the end?

Good.

The Wii one for sure. It is a launch game, and inside that bubble of high scores for the first batch of games.

So, I get this package from EB a few days ago. I open it up and there inside is a brand new LoZ: TP for Gamecube. I look over at my Wii version on the shelf and think, "WTF? I don't remember ordering the GC version. And why would I?"

And then I remembered. Sometime back in like 1998 or so, I pre-ordered TP for the GC. This was well before the Wii was announced...

So, now I've got this "extra" copy of TP sitting here. I'm probably just going to take it down to EB and exchange it for something else, but every time I think about doing that, it feels like blasphemy. :)

Oh well. Just the things you have to deal with as you get older and your mind starts to degrade...

1998! WOW! You had Twilight Princess reserved before Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, or WindWaker were even released! FUCKING AWESOME!

Can I borrow your time machine to make a few sports wagers?

I think he was being sarcastic in relation to the delays the game has seen.

Well in my humble opinon, having played both versions, i'm giving the nod to the GC. If the only seperating points are controls and graphics then the graphics win by a landslide.

For a GC title TP is incredibly beautiful, but for a wii gamerthe contols are under utilized and personally i find they fell tacked on. So by my experience they're both great, but the gc is more impressive for what it is.

I guess that makes sense. I think controls are an opinion though.

Maybe the next Zelda will use the motion sensitivity more and better. Game Informer said the next one might be sooner than people think.

Possibly stupid question - can I play the Wii version with a Game Cube controller, and would it control the same way as the Game Cube version? I'm interested in doing that, since I've heard only the Wii does 16x9 progressive scan, and that's a huge selling point for me.

Nope, sorry. If it's any consolation, I think the Wii controls are awesome. The precision and speed available when aiming the bow etc. in the first person is unmatched by an analog stick, and the slight vibration you have to give the control to slash the sword is really not that big of an inconvenience.

Plus, I think the extra techiques, like the Shield Bash, are awesome with the Wii control scheme. I can't imagine what they would be like on the GC.

Thanks for the info. I'll likely just get the Wii version then...of course I first must find and purchase one!
