I'm gunna get a memory card or 2 for my Wii, i'v seen the Wii Sandisk SD Memory Cards both 1Gb and 2Gb cards, My question is, will any Sandisk SD Memory Card work?, or is it just the branded Wii Sandisk SD Memory cards that work with the Wii?
Thanks peeps!

Yes...any SD card will work. Stay away from the Wii branded ones, especially from Gamestop, cause they jacked the price up at least $20 on each card.

Yeah, it's funny when you go into the Circuit City game section and see a 512 Wii card for $50, then walk into the photo department and see a gig stick for $20.

What do you need the SD card for actually? You cant store save games on it (well.. maybe for backup) or play VC games from it. I know Excite Truck have the possibility to use custom soundtracks, but thats pretty much all i can think of that its good for, except for backup.

Taking save files with you, the entire picture channel, music, extra save game space, backing up files on your PC. That's all I've got for now.

Ye, forgot about the picture channel. But its rather useless imo, for the gaming purpose. I thought it could work as an extention of the internal memory at first.

That was the main reason for extra game saves, but also the pics, and a few times i'v had a corrupt file message show up, its happened about 3 or 4 times and its usually when i first power it up, and i haven't connected it to the net either.. although all my saved files are all ok and open fine, and no visiable problems.. so not sure if its just some random error?
Grrrrrr!

I'm not quite sure what you are saying, but the SD Card is so that you can save more games than the internal memory can hold. So, yeah, it is an extension of it. The SD card just also serves multiple purposes.

I mean, u cant use the same functions on the SD card as the internal memory. If the internal memory can store i.e 20 VC games, you cant just put in a SD card, download 20 more games (40 in total) and play the VC games directly from the SD card. You must first delete a game from the internal memory, then copy another game from the SD card and over to the internal memory. Its the same with savegames, you cant load savegames from a SD card.
So if you have 3000 blocks free, you cant just pop in a SD card and suddently you will have 10.000 blocks free, if you know what i mean. All the extra stuff must be moved back & forth from the internal memory to the SD card. You cant merge them and use both as "one memory".
