I want to pick up this xbox from this guy but he says the problem with it is that I need to redownload the microsoft OP. How do I do this?

Yor seller knows nothing about Xboxes. This I can tell for sure. Better be cheap. REAL cheap.

That's the problem. The terminology makes no sense. Therefore, no one really knows what the real issue is. Could be a HDD. Could be an oddball Philips DVDrom firmware issue. Could be a motherbaord eeprom issue. If it's been tampered with, it could literally be *anything* including a collection of broken parts.

The OS then? More likely, the BIOS, which MS wouldn't have for download but...other...places just might! But yeah, need more info before something like this could be troubleshot (troubleshooted?).
It might need a new BIOS, but getting it on there will be a whole extra battle, and likely involve buying and installing a chip or such.

Slayers won't do you any good unless you have a modded xbox.

And there is NO doing anything to any code without a chip in, and that includes reformatting the HDD, etc.
