I remembered playing the snes versions back in the day, and I hated them, but I just recently played kirby64 and it was quite good like 7/10 good... maybe I'm a graphics whore the animation was pretty awesome the first stages were quite naff but later on there were some almost as good as donkey kong country 2 type stages.... maybe even just as good I guess.
so which kirby games are the best?

My opinion on Kirby games is that the American Kirby is always so angry.

Gotta love Kirby, that cute little pink marshmellow type thing.

Wow, how right you are! Check out this page:

Just a bunch of pictures of American vs. Japanese release covers for different Kirby games. I never noticed that before!
Anyway, to the OP: There are definitely some great Kirby games. My favorite was always Kirby's Adventure for NES, but recently I picked up the newest one for the DS (Squeek Squad, horrible name but fun), and it's maybe even a bit better. Same side scrolling, but unlockables, hidden items, and you can use the touch screen to combine different abilities and items that you have unlocked. Definitely a solid game. :)

Kirby Superstar is one of the best games on one of my favorite systems, the SNES.
And, Kirby is my best character in SSB and SSBM.

Is there such a thing as a BAD Kirby game? I've never played one. And yes, Snapple is right, even in the SSB series, Kirby is unstoppable.
Of course, I can't bring up Kirby without thinking of Handre De Jager's amazing "human Kirby" art.

Kirby Canvas Curse is my favorite. A lot of them are very good, though. Dream course is a fun golf variant

Personally, Im split between Kirby's Adventure and Kirby's Pinball Land. KPL has got to be one of the most underrated games on the GameBoy, possibly of all time, imo.

I'm gonna list every Kirby game I have for the hell of it.
NES:
Kirby's Adventure
SNES:
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Kirby Super Star
Game Boy:
Kirby's Dream Land
Kirby's Pinball Land
Game Boy Advance:
Kirby: Nightmare In Dream Land
DS:
Kirby Canvas Curse
I also want to get Kirby's Adventure (NES), Kirby's Dream Land 2 (Game Boy), Kirby & The Amazing Mirror (GBA), and Kirby's Dream Course (SNES).
My favorite Kirby game is Kirby Super Star, with Kirby Pinball Land and Nightmare In Dream Land in the top three.
EDIT (9/14/07): I got Kirby's Adventure last month and added it to the list.

Kirby is good stuff. For me, it's all about Superstar, specifically Great Cave Offensive. That game is...perfect. Mirror Kirby for the win.
I should really try and pick up some of the GBA games used somewhere.
Of course, I can't bring up Kirby without thinking of Handre De Jager's amazing "human Kirby" art.

Kirby's dreamland 3!!!
Simply the best kirby game out there.
It has amazing graphics (sorta like a watercolor colored pencil type style)
Awsome powerup usage (each powerup is used different depending on what animal you ride on)
Kirbys dream land on gb is also good because its classic kirby at his best.
I also enjoy dreamcourse, but I have yet to try any of the GBA kirby's though I thoroughly enjoyed canvas curse (even if it controls totaly different from past kirby games).
Has nayone tried out squeak squad yet?

SS is out? I gotta get that.
EDIT: oh yeah, KD3 has to be my favorite Kirby ever, since it's the only one I've ever finished 100%.

Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Kirby's Dream Land 3 just feel like such a step backward. They're much slower-paced than the zany antics of Super Star or Adventure. Kirby 64 recovers only slightly.

Definitely check out Kirby's Adventure for the NES. It's one of my favorite NES games. It's on par with games like Super Mario Brothers 3, Castlevania 3, and Mega Man 3 in length and quality.

whoa that's quite a few It take me years to look them all up...... the n64 was still pretty decent so hopefully the others will be as good
Believe it or not, I've never played a Kirby game until now. I had played Kirby in Super Smash Bros. but that doesn't really count. Well, this Wednesday I found Kirby's Adventure at Salvation Army and decided to buy it. I set up the old Super 8 last night to play it and now I'm hooked. I'm very impressed by the graphics (for an NES game) but most of all it's just a ton of fun. I'll be keeping an eye out for some of the SNES games in the future, but first I've got to finish this one (shouldn't take too long).

Nice choice, the SNES has some decent Kirby games too. I'll stick with my older, very simple post:
Avalanche
I still love this game, mainly due to it being a puzzle. It's just the Puyo in me. :)

Kirby's Superstar was probably my favorite, followed closely by Kirby's Adventure. I don't think any of them have been bad (it's hard to screw up that formula). Stale? It's getting there.
Still *hugs Kirby plushie*

Amazing.

It's a shame that the platformer Kirby game that was announced for the Gamecube got cancelled (it would have followed in the tradition of Kirby games being among the last major first-party titles for a Nintendo system). At least we got another DS game, though.
I'd love to hear that it got moved over to the Wii, and that it's the next major release up HAL Laboratory's sleeve now that Smash Bros. Brawl is almost out.
