Currently I am having a lot of fun collecting demo discs. Less so with the magazine demos but still... Anyway, I am toying with the idea of a web site devoted to demo discs and I need some info to give it some interesting content. Info like how specific demos were released. Was it given away at a retail outlet, online or at an event? Is the gameplay content simply the first level of the full game or something created specificaly for the demo? Any tidbits would be useful.

Info such as this.
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/jakanddaxterthepl/news.html?sid=2822508

As you can see have started the process of google searching certain titles. Doing it this way could be a long an brutal process and I already have too much to learn about creating a website.

It doesn't matter what system the demo is for. I don't need much info for the demos pulled from magazines unless it's obscure like the case of OPM disc 57 with Half Life on it. It has the Half Life Uplink Mod hidden on it that you can only access when you enter a code in the cheats menu of the full version of Half Life on the PS2. After you enter the code you can open the disc tray in the options menu and insert the OPM demo disc to play the hidden content.

Any info is appreciated.

I am interested in buying demos for reasonable prices. Especially PS1. PMs only for this.

Wow. Great site. The pictures are great and it's nice to have a resource that I can refer to for images. I don't want to start harvesting info or pictures from his site out of respect for the work that has been done there. I thought the name was familiar. He won some auctions I was watching.

That's pretty close to the info I was going to include in my site. The layout will be different and cover demos from more systems and maybe even magazine demos for consoles and PCs. Shareware will also get some attention. I will have to plan it carefully so it doesn't turn into a giant mess.

Game Rave has a slowly budding demo page, and I've been (slowly on my end >_>;;) been working with Lockshaw to help figure out the rest of the PSone demo discs and variants. His web-site is an amazing cheat sheet.

I remember getting the very first Playstation demo disc back in 1995 when I pre-ordered a PS1 from Toys 'R' Us. I believe it's the "Interactive CD Sampler Volume 1." It has Toshinden, Ridge Racer, ESPN Xtreme, Jumping Flash, and a lot of cool others. Really a great first demo. Anyways, I parted with it in 1996 when I sold my PS1 to start saving money for an N64...About a year or 2 ago, I had been looking for the demo on eBay for months and finally snagged it along with the Playstation Developers Demo that came packaged with the original Playstation release. Anyway, those are 2 pretty sought after PS demo's I have. :)
