I am getting around 125 next week. Do you guys think I should buy a PS2, wait a month a get a 360, or wait like 2-3 months and get a Wii? Or a new PC, because god knows I love me some sims 2, and I want to get into warcraft.

Wow! 125 must buy a lot more where you live than in the rest of the country. Sure you could cover the cost of a ps2, but that's about it.

Hardy Har my good man. I don't have a job, so it is alot of cash to me. What I am saying is my dad would cover the rest.

I would also wait for the 360 with the Wii running a very close second. Very close.

If you love the Sims 2 that much, then why don't you marry it?

I'm getting a very PC vibe about you, shadow.

I have a 360 and a Wii, and I cast my vote for the 360.

If you can wait for Spring, likely a 360 price drop will be coming, so that could help you out. I'm guessing the Wii will be $199.99 by next September, but that's a long wait.

If you are going to buy a console I would buy a slim model Playstation 2. It is the best deal. Especially if you are tight on cash.

A slim model Playstation 2 comes internet ready with free online gaming out of the box.

Games are very cheap and you can pick up titles online for 10 dollars or less if you shop right. Plus we are in the middle of a generation shift and there are tons of games going on sale at retailers. Regardless of this, the Playstation 2 is still seeing new releases with great games coming out well into 2007.

Seeing as how 60% of the games currently on the 360 can also be played on the Playstation 2 with no loss in gameplay, I can't recommend going the Xbox 360 route for your situation.

From a cost/functionality standpoint the Playstation 2 really is the best "bang for your buck" deal.

I wouldn't recommend a PStwo, the system is dying. Take a look at the releases in 2007, not much.

Xbox 360 is a great system, you may want a warranty however.

I would say get a 360 or Wii depending on which type of games you like.

PS2 systems will drop further as the new generation of systems take hold of the market, you'll be able to pick up a ps2 cheaper later on.

So? Look at the releases before 2007. Lots of games to buy if he hasn't already played them.

It depends on how much of an upgrade you can get to your PC. If you can get to a point where you can play current games at a decent clip I'd go with that, though you can't go wrong with a 360. While many see the PS2 as dead we must remember that God of War II is coming and will likely gice the PS2 a little bit of a comeback.

I'd wait until after March for the Wii. Wait until there's a couple more games worth buying for it. I have not gotten one but it is my understanding that Zelda is the only thing it has going for it (unless your in the Wii Sports Afficionado Club). Oh yeah, it seems the Gamescube version of Zelda is identical except for the handedness...

You can't go wrong but I recently upgraded my PC and was thrilled with the results...

Get a 360 unless you need a PC. It's the best system out at the moment game-wise and support-wise. The Wii is also quite good but not enough gaems for a while, and the PS2 has TONS of games of course, so if you want easy to get games...

I would go with a PS2.You seem to be limited on funds so you could get alot more out of a PS2.Heck get a OG Xbox and soft mod it.That opens you up to the whole Wii Virtual Console line up.

Those shiny new SILVER Slim model PS2s sure r perty!

Wii is great but the PS2 has sooo many games for it I would go for a PS2 and then save for the new Wii.

Many Xbox360s seem to be having problems still with the 3 rings of death:http://www.gametab.com/news/770044/

I still plan on getting a 360 but I guess Ill wait another 3-6 months in hope of a more solid and better quality version of the console.

On a side note.

I recently was offered a trade for a Xbox360 for my slimline PS2 and most of my best games for it.

This guy wanted to trade me his Xbox360 and ONE game... Madden 06 for my slimline PS2 and 10 of my best PS2 games including Shadow of the Colossus my Metal Gears, Gradius 5 and ICO.

He brought over the Xbox360 that included the madden game NO HDD one remote controller and it seemed to play ok and all but I dont think he had the original hookups they looked 3rd party to me so I had no problem in saying NO WAY MAN even though he tried to convince me otherwise lol.

If you are tight on cash the slim PS2 is the way to go... for $125 new and another $100 or so you could get a great libary that would take you months to pay through (GTA 3 pack for $30!). Also don't forget that you will need memory cards, extra controller and online cost for the 360.

Try and be realistic based on the position you are in and if you do not have a steady income you might not be able to fully enjoy the 360, but with the PS2 you would.

Chadt74: You are right. The PS2 does have a great libary of games for great prices. And I allways get 360 down the road when the go down in price.

I hate to say it, but if cash is tight, I'd go with the PS2. You just can't argue with the quantity and quality of cheap games. You won't find more AAA titles for under $20 anywhere else. Get a Wii60 at some point in the future.

Lordnikon speaks the truth.

I'd say definitely go with a PS2, regardless of whether you can afford a 360 or not. So many great games are already out for the system, which are more than enough to keep you busy for a while. Additionally, you can start saving some cash slowly (say around a buck a day ;)), and around next year when you're eventually done playing all the classics the PS2 has to offer, you can then consider buying a 360 or a Wii, when both will have more and better games, and will also be much cheaper than they are now :)

I kind of assumed everyone in the world had a ps2 (if not two or more of them) by this point. I mean it's kind of like a 2600 console by now LOL

Definitely the PS2, it's the Offical Console of "Jobless Slackasses©" worldwide!

Kidding aside, I'm going to chime in on the PS2 vote as well. I just finished up a quick session of Gears of War, and while it's an absolute must play for anyone with eyes, the PS2 has a hell of a (cheap) library to go through. You really can't go wrong with a PS2 for one reason:

Guitar Hero.

Aside from that, there's around a hundred games out there that I would dare classify as AAA for the system. If you're truly a PS2 virgin then you've got no reason to take the expensive plunge into a 360 or headache of trying to find a fledgling Wii right now. I highly endorse both of those systems, but if you're strapped for cash then the PS2 will offer you the best bang for your buck.

[Note: Yes, I'm aware Guitar Hero 2 is coming out for the 360 sometime next year. And I will buy it again.]
