I'm at work, and I didn't have my camera with me so I had to rely on my phone for these pictures which will give you the basic Idea. First, the homebrew releases.

NWCGE hosted the release of an all new Atari 2600 homebrew, and the rerelease of an older original homebrew. To date, only 8 Skeleton games have been made, and only 4 This Planet Sucks have been made with the new labels. Both are original homebrews, made by Eric Ball and Greg Troutman.

Skeleton is a First Person game that takes place inside a maze, and has you running through looking for skeletons which you must dispose of before they dispose of you. The game also has Stereo sound, which helps you identify where the next skeleton is!

This Planet Sucks is a really fun game with a defender-ish theme wherein you descend from the mother ship and must avoid ships to land on the planet and rescue the people. This game is great because if you land too quickly you crash, and it has a great "lunar landing" feel to it, with great physics.

That's odd. I've owned "This Planet Sucks" for YEARS now. The label is different in the pics, what's the deal?

How was the event itself?

Oopsie, yeah I see thta the program itself was made in 1998. The labels for both games are being done (and this is where the "new" part came in for TPS) by Packrat video games, who made their first appearance at the NWCGE. They will also be attending CGE in LV this year for the first time.

The meet itself was a blast! There were a couple of "official" vendors, the most notable being PackRat. Other collecters brought their collections for exhibition, and a lot of rare items (protos, betas, Quadrun, Air Raid, etc.) were on display.

One nice thing about the show was that there was a ton of game stations set up for playing games. the atmosphere was very casual, with people openly setting their games out fro others to enjoy, and people were taking turns playing games and changing carts out. Very comfortable.

I also got to meed Rick Weiss and Rob (Keeper) from this board, and will be working with them to hopefully make the next meeting even more memorable. I'll post more info (and lots more pics!) when I get home.

Yep I met Lee Kreuger and Rick Weiss as well. Great guys :) (even though I only spoke to them for 5 minutes or so). They didn't know who I was until I told them I was "the guy with the Beat em and Eat em icon".. then their faces lit up LOL.

Good fun at the NWCGE. A lot smaller scale than all the other c.g. shows I'm sure. But I defnitely had a blast looking around... and unbelievably so did my wife! :)
