This means much to me! Yes, there are a lot of bad reviewers on youtube. I don't want to name them though since they'll send their legions of underlings to swallow me whole! My stuff still isn't up to par with what I want it to be, but I'm glad it's at least of some quality.

Reviewing isn't even that fucking hard, especially with a 2-level demo that came out 10 years ago. Do it well enough that you don't have to qualify it with some half-assed excuse, or save everyone a bit of bandwidth and shut the fuck up. If you're going to try to hedge your bets with this "Oh, i know it's not very good" shit in the hopes that no one will rip into you, i'm going to specifically rip into you for exactly that. Especially if you're trying to tackle a field that is already overpopulated with total fucking morons who "suck with words" despite words being the core of what they do.

I thought it was entertaining, and well-done. I like how it was mainly voice-over on game footage, as opposed to just some guy sitting in front of a webcam talking about a game.

Watching what i want is the entire point. I want to keep looking at stuff like this on a whim. I want to keep that good faith that people are going to put out cool stuff, and i want to keep the mindset of looking at them without having a fucking boulder dropped on me, thus providing me with the necessary assurance that it won't be a complete waste of time. This video puts forth zero effort toward meeting those wants. And i'm not going to default to not caring just to meet some dipshit lack of common sense standards which, in this case, are painfully easy to meet. I'm already spending most of my time delving into the depths of retrogaming because the rest of the industry and gaming community exhibits that lack of caring, and i won't be run out of it for the same anti-intellectual shit.

The entire point of the thing was to express enthusiasm for something that deserves it. So what do you have if you can't articulate that enthusiasm? Nothing. You have pretty much what the SpikeTV Videogame Awards have.

The stupid part is that it's easily fixable. It looked well made right up to the point of "i suck with words", which i responded to by closing the tab it was on. When you review something, the entire point is to express, with words, why what you're reviewing is worth anything. Half-ass that, and you defeat the entire point. Period. You do justice to your opinion and the game itself by expressing exactly what it is you think and feel. Anything less means you're not done thinking about the subject. And to go with that is just insulting, as you don't even have the excuse of a deadline for time-sensitive material.

Not once, ever, should "i don't know how to express this" or any such variant thereof surface in a review. Never. Especially in a review of an old game where the proper expression of enthusiasm truly is the only reason for the review. If you can't do it well enough to have no self-deprecating qualifiers, don't do it at all. Do it once, do it right, and do the enthusiast community proud with it.

You've turned my view of you around a bit. The reason I was disliking your initial post was the lack of explaining your negativity and the abundance of faul language. The second post was a bashing of others opinionated responses to the video. Your third post however explains your point of view far better than the previous two and actually addresses the problems and resolutions. Everything is a learning experience and Celestial Avenger is just seeing what people enjoy and where he needs to go to become more successful in later reviews. Although criticizing is crutial for someone to realize what needs to be improved on, cutting people down as you did was a bit overdone. By any means though, welcome to the community and I hope you enjoy the conversations we have and learn along with us. :)
