I decided to go through my three new next-gen systems since they are starting to gather dust and, as I try out the Playstation Store, what do I see? Gran Turismo HD available for download! I heard that is was gonna only be available in Japan but here it was. I am not a big fan of Gran Turismo (more of a RR fan), but I wanted to seeif the game was "pretty" or not. I gotta say it looked pretty sweet to me being just an "upgrade" to GT4. Itll be nice to see whenever some developers get the hang of the system and start producing some extra special visuals from the game.

I have yet to buy a PS3 but would love to see this in HD on my TV. Too bad that ain't gonna happen.

It looks pretty sweet and there are 10 cars to play with. There is a time trial and drift trial to monkey with. There is only one track, forwards and backwards. Your times and scores are uploaded and ranked online which is pretty cool, kind of like XBLA scores. For free its pretty sweet though so I have no real complaints, hell there is even a Ferrari in the game which is a first.

How good does it look though? Being Gran Turismo I expect nothing to change but the graphics. Is it photorealistic at times, since that is their ultimate goal?

Yes it is. The mountains look like they are really there.

I spent several hours last night playing (and originally downloading) Gran Turismo HD.

Being a demo, there aren't a lot of features. Like s1lence said, there are a limited numbers of cars and even fewer options. You can choose between AT/MA transmission, turn skid control on/off, and choose one of about a dozen different sets of tires. I'm sure the full release will have umpteen-million different options.

My overall impression was that the game looks good, while the intro and the replays look great. Some parts of the intro were difficult to determine whether they were real footage or rendered video, and the replays looked really good too. In game is difficult to judge since you only have a 1st person view with a small instrument gauge.

I am currently ranked #1,849 in the world, bitches! ;)

WOW, that is bad. That's about the number of people that actually bought a PS3 :p

All kidding aside, this game looks pretty good. I love the backgrounds and the drifting. Makes me want to get one.
