Found a Colecovision Proto of Roc 'N Rope :)

Hey all, it's been a while :)

Merry Christmas to start, it's been a hell of a year, but I'm glad to be here on DP again :)

Found an interesting cart with a homemade label, picked it up as it gave off a vibe, though I figured it was worth the gamble.

Cracked it open this morning and it appears to be a prototype of Roc n' Rope for the Colecovision!

The chips are heavy, programmable no doubt, and is covered in notes.

The labels say:

Rock + Rope Rev 19 21a5#1

Rock + Rope Rev 19 D6a9 #2

Rock + Rope Rev 19 3e28 #3


Funny thing is that the label and the chips all spell 'Roc' as 'Rock'.

Don't have a colecovision where I'm at this morning so I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but I thought I would pass on this cool info :) If anybody has any kinds of info on prototypes, or this particular game, say it loud and proud :)

So I got to try it out today, it seems to work fine, but I've never played the commercial release before so I can't really compare any possible differences.

Though there is one more space where a 'K' could have been removed from 'Roc n' Rope' at the startup screen, I noticed.

EDIT: Hah! I didn't notice that this thread had been moved to the prototype section, even better, I didn't know DP HAD a prototype section ;)

...and I'll let the new owner of the cart decide whether to dump it or not, I am interested, but I need the money and the new owner should make that decision.

I picked it up at a junk store where there was a pile of decent colecovision games, systems, and expansions, but the guy wanted too much for everything. So I picked up the one thing that looked like it may be worth it.
