Okay, the launch was just delayed and pushed into Feb. '07. I've been following this games development for a little over a year now and it's looking fantastic. The levels are massive, max out at around 50,000 units, the details and polygons are an improvement over Total Annihilation, many newer units have been introduced with enhanced life-sized scalability, a huge advancement in AI for units and group formations (helping out with micromanagement), a different concept in the collection of resources and there's the zoom-in/out feature with 360 revolution of the battlefields. Wow, that hits the tip of the iceberg for that.

So, has anyone here been given a key to test the Beta? There was a limited number of keys distributed to gain on-line gameplay and have read quite a few highly positive reviews. The downfalls thus far deal with some video issues and slowdowns which will hopefully be tweaked out by launch day. I have seen cracked downloads distributed around and got one of them last night but I didn't get past the key entry screen, which somewhat stinks because I already fully paid for my copy (guess I'll be waiting til launch for a taste). Which is also a good question, anyone already picking this title up around launch?
PS. I've had the sig and avatar for the past few months because I do believe this game won't fail us and it deserves at least a try by RTS gamers. TA was a great but didn't get the sales or publicity it deserved.

A few comments.
First Chris Taylor had NOTHING to do with TA:K so it shouldn't even be mentioned.
Second...the date hasn't been pushed back anytime recently, it has been 1st quarter of 2007 for 2 years, and any posted date in February is just rumor at this time.
As for beta keys...there are 50000 of them out there and there are over 45000 beta testers in the game now.

TA Kingdoms did suck big time compared to the original but it has a few enjoyable moments, not worth retail though (I bought it for $2 years ago).
As for the amount of testers, that's crazy. I'm sure they're getting a ton of feed-back that'll make launch that much better. It's upsetting to not be able to just download a Beta and play it but I know my copy will be at the store come launch day so I might as well wait for the full thing.
The release date I saw on the Game Stop site. I had been going off the "Q1 07" thing since my first hearing of the game and was told by an employee that their system said I'll get the game on Jan. 2. I knew that might be garbage so I finally went to the site and there it was for Feb. I don't know the date but I'll be awaiting that phone call.

Sadly, I don't think that my computer will be able to handle this game. I really want it though, so we'll see what the final specs are on it.

Got it today! I'm currently installing the game. :)
I read the rec specs and I meet everything but the graphics part! I only have 128MB on this laptop but that's apart of the minimum so I should be able to experience something before taking it home. ;)

Damnit! I installed it and while running it the first time I get an error saying my system doesn't meet minimum requirements! It really does except the frequency of the processor. It requests a minimum of 1.8 Ghz and this laptop is 1.66 Ghz dual core, so really there shouldn't be a problem with the under 200 Mhz clocked difference. The core-duo should more resemble a 2.8 Ghz if anything.

Okay, I got the game working earlier last month and have gotten significantly better. I posted a few screen shots that I resized otherwise they'd be huge and consume too much bandwidth:

Anyone else pick this game up yet?

DAMN... that's PRETTY...
I love RTS, but I never have time to play them...
I used to have TA and all its expansions, plus Kingdoms, etc...
now I wish I hadn't sold them all... I knew I would someday...
I might give it a try eventually, after the price comes WAY down...

Haha. I got into several of those debates a few weeks ago. I have several hardcore C&C friends, but then I also have some huge TA buds (which I got one addicted to TA a few years back after kicking him off Starcraft). We ultimately agreed to disagree due to the very different gameplays.
I bought the C&C decade set last year and played a bit here and there and my favorite was Renegade! For some reason the RTS is fun but I just can't get into it. Now the console ports are great, grade A ports and far suprior to the junk Blizzard brought to it. I couldn't believe the slow-downs that occur so shortly into gameplay for Warcraft and Starcraft on the N64, PS1 and Saturn.

I got C&C3 instead of Supreme Commander based on my familiarity with the C&C style of gameplay. SC looks like it has a pretty steep learning curve, and I didn't really want to dedicate that much time to any one game right now.

I really wanted SC to be the game that got me back into RTSs, but I haven't been able to get the demo working, and I refuse to buy a PC game without demoing it first. I meet all the specs and have updated drivers, but the game freezes after a certain amount of time with this high-pitched whine coming out of my speakers. Freezes the game, my mouse, the keyboard... the entire computer

There are already patches available for the game, some that enhance multi-player game and deals with latency. Haven't had any issues like that or heard from someone with them. I forked out $300 in upgrades for this computer to run the game but spent $800 with a card in Dec. for the dual monitors. It's all been well worth it and some games I can actually play well, like Quake 4 on highest detail and resolution! Well worth it. :)
