help...can't use tab in MAME

The tab key no longer brings up the config menu on my MAME. I thought I might have accidentally re-mapped the key at some point but I have tried pressing every key w/ no luck. Is there another way to get into that menu?

Go into your Mame directory and delete your config file. I've had the exact same thing happen to me, and it took me a lot of trial and error to figure out a solution.

Specifically in your cfg directory, delete 'default.cfg'

My concern about deleting the config file is I customized button set ups in a lot of games. I was hoping there would be a less extreme solution. Maybe it's possible to open up the config file? Will it open in notepad or something?
