The PS2 was $800?Um I doubt that try $300.Now do you see thats not much price cutting. Its 2007 and its $129 that IS a ripoff.

I believe jajaja was referring to the European price point. US launch price for PS2 (and original Playstation) was $299.

So, yes $29 does make a difference to me.

Dude, if you live in Cali, that's like three days worth of your smokes. Just abstain for three days and there ya go!

A little off topic, but I never understood how people can blow so much money on cigarettes. I have friends that do the same thing and it just amazes me. And then they look at me funny when I buy my third game for the month...not realizing that they spend more than that on smokes in the same time period.

Okay, sorry. Carry on.

I make minimum wage in CA, and considering I have moved back and fourth from the UK I'm financially poor. I make very little money and certain things like smoking contributes to that. I don't drive, either. So for me it is hard to have the things I want. The last NEW system I bought was Gamecube back in 04-05 for $99 NEW. I do not collect like others here, I buy games to play them and it's a novelty and a fantasy for me, but not a consuming one. I get what I can as cheap as I can, complete or not.

There are lots of things I would dream of having, but I do not have a career or money to buy the things I want. So, yes $29 does make a difference to me. $600 for PS3 or $350 for ipod, I just don't understand where people get the money from, honestly. Being in America (for me) it is even harder considering I only make $7.00/hr ($7.50 starting today). But that is life I guess.

I can understand it then. It would mean working like 4-5 hours extra to cover it (taxes and all that). But if u save $1 each day it will only take about a month before u got the extra money. If you got bill, rent and all that i totaly understand that stuff like games etc. doesnt get the highest priority and that every cent counts.

As TurboGenesis already said, i was refering to the european price. If the PS2 was only $299 (damn thats cheap!) in USA i can agree that the pricedrop isnt that much compared to here, but it might be that if they sell the PS2 for $100 they might not make any money or maybe people still buy alot when its $129 and there is no need to lower the price yet.

The PS3 will also cost about $800 to $900 when it gets out here. Anthony1 also made a good point, the PS3 is not launched in Europe or Australia yet, which got over twice as much people as lives in USA. So its going to be exiting to see how the sale will go over here.

The friday before christmas my wife and I stumbled upon 25 to 30 PS3s at TRU. While we were at the counter waiting to check out 5 people asked if they had any DS lites or Wiis, of which they had none (also no regular DS GBAsp or micros... one gamecube remained). No one asked for PS3 or 360 but that is understandable as they were in plain view. Of the 5 askers, 2 bought a 360 instead, 2 instantly turned and burned and the last customer's conversation, to me, was priceless to be witness to;

Lady: "Do you have a Nintendo Wii?"
Clerk: "Sorry, Ma'am. Sold out about 2 hours ago. We do have PS3s though!"
Lady: "Shit! How much for that one?"
Clerk: "$600."
Lady: *latches onto counter with left hand as right hand clutches her chest* "Oh lord but hell no!" *turn and burn*
Me: *Laughs out loud*
Clerk to Me: "Yeah, it's gonna be like that all day."
NOTE: The store opened ~3hrs before this

Ever since then we have had no trouble bumping into PS3s. DS and Wiis are nowhere to be found. Although we were present at a Wal-Mart when a Wii shipment came in. They made an announcement about the shipment over the intercom, counting the seconds... 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1... people were running with loaded carts others without to electronics dept. I'm not sure how many they received but by the time I got back there all the Wiis were sold out. Took less than 5 minutes. That is when I conceded getting a Wii within the next few months. 360s are not hard to come by but you do find that some stores are sold out of them from time to time. Frys had a PSP bundle that I thought was ok. PSPs are everywhere, more than anything else, be it console or handheld. I guess the BS-viral ads didn't go over well. LOL
