Hi Guys,

Hope I'm announcing this in the right place ...

I've recently ported my classic (old) retro game QWAK (the Amiga version) to the Gameboy Advance.

It has it's own site here: www.qwak.co.uk

Please check it out and let me know what you think?

Cheers!

How much is £15 in U.S. and Canadian dollars? That would be really helpful information to put on the site. :p

Hello Snapple,

Thanks!

Yeah ... the youtube video ... looks a little poor in quality. I think they seriously compress the video's after you upload them!

Though if it gives a good impression, I guess it serves it's purpose!

Thanks!

It comes with a little plastic snug fitting case, no box unfortunately. However, I am going to have a downloadable box, that you can print out on 2 sheets of A4 card, cut out, and glue etc. Also, an insert for a DS case (which also takes GBA carts).

Is there any actual artwork on the cart itself?

when will the downloadable ds cases be in?

So let me get this straigh, you wrote this game for the Amega System and now have re-wrote it to work on a GBA cart? Or is it a game that was developed for the Amega and since it is a defunct system you were able to get the rights to it and put it on the GBA. Either way it looks like a really cool game, kinda like bubble bobble.

I developed the original game, actually on the BBC, then later on the Amiga, and of course, retained all IP.

Yeah, it's a real fun game. I'm currently working on a brand new PC version ...

I Just purchased it. I s there any way you can include the box you are talking about via printout? I don't have printers capable of doing it. I would REALLY appreciate it!

So is 300 all that will be released or is this more of a first run to see demand?

just wondering, I once signed up for a newsletter from you or something like that, to be notified when the game comes out. I did not get anything though (or I just messed things up now heh).
Anyway, I'll consider getting it when I have the money ready.

Sorry Jason,

I haven't actually designed the box as yet, and even if I had, it wouldn't be feasable for me to include it in the package. More bulk and weight would increase postage costs, and more importantly, it would require more time for 'processing' (which is already taking *WAY* too long as it is).

I'm going to put a note / photo on the order page, so people who didn't get the newsletter, also realise they're not getting a box. I'd hate to have a load of angry fans gunning for my blood!!

The download will be a case insert, you can print and use with a DS case. The game as it is, already comes with a GBA case (one of the small ones).

I will also include instruction on the site, how to get the DS cases.

It is very unlikely there will be more.

It takes way too long to process orders, and it's time I'd prefer to spend actually developing games! There are other reasons too, I'd really not like to attract any attention from large console manufacturers etc.

He was asking if there was a label on the cart itself, I believe.

Also, I'm moving this to modern gaming, where it belongs.

Yup I wanted to know if the cartridge is going to have some of the fun sticker artwork on it, like every other GBA game.

Ah, yes, it does.

It has a label (sticker) with the QWAK logo, the url, and some other bits and bobs. If I get time (!) I'll put a photo on the order page, so peeps can see what they're getting.

Will you write a mail when the game is sent out or will it be shipped out right after payment?

Hi jajaja,

I usually ship within 2 or 3 days of payment, unless it's christmas / new year (party time).

I got my copy today :) I havnt had time to play it too much yet, but its really a sweet game. Very easy to play and good controllers. Its alittle unusual that A button is for shooting and B for jumping, but that took 10 sec. to get used to. I also like the good old Amiga music. There is particulary 1 tune thats really really nice, are the .mods avalible somewhere?

I recommend this game to all, easy to pick up and entertaining! :)

Heh, cosmic I told you you would get better results here compared to the folks at N-Philes. And some how I knew DreamTR would be one of the first to purchase. =D

Yeah that's cool. Think he gave it a B+.

Though he got this bit wrong "While the gray potions provide layers of "armor", your current armor level is not displayed on the screen, so you're never quite sure if the next hit will be fatal." ... bless him!

The armour level is actually displayed on the duck itself, as, well, a suit or armour (leather, silver, gold).

I have made up some custom labels for my QWAK cartridge, and am offering the rest up for sale. Basically the cost of shipping and paypal fee: 1.00 USD a piece if you are in the USA. I don't have many, (about 5 left) and they were very time consuming to make, so don't expect any more to show up. When they're gone they're gone.

Each is full color, super fine printing quality with a shiny, waterproof plastic coating using acid-free materials for longevity. They're extremely nice! The flash from the camera has washed out some of the color in the pictures so they're even more vibrant in person. If you want one PM me, paypal please.
