I wish to buy all older 2d Mario platformers that allowed the game to be saved but I cannot find an accurate list of such that includes the save attribute. Would you folks mind helping me out to compile such a list? I do not mind having to change the battery in them if necessary and plan on buying that dual NES, SNES knock-off system to play them with. Thank you all...

Off the top of my head:
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario All-Stars (SNES)
Super Mario All-Stars & World (SNES)
Yoshi's Island (SNES)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Paper Mario (N64)
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (GBC)
New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
Super Mario Advance 1-4 (GBA)
Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 1-2(GBA/DS)
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (GBA)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA)
Unsure of any others.

I don't have it yet but I'm sure you can save in the new Super Princess Peach on DS as well. Of course, that's not an "older" game...

Thanks Rogmeister, cute pig, I have an absynian. I also have the New Super Mario and it deserves to be game of the year in all tallys.

Don't the first Wario games on Gameboy work too?

Super Mario Land 2 for Game Boy lets you save as well.

Why Super Mario 3 did not allow saves is a mystery to me.

Thank you. Unfortunately, Cocoa passed away a week before Christmas so I decided I'd use this avatar for awhile as a tribute to her.

My condolences- our guinea pig passed on shortly after we moved in our new house last year.
They're my favorite rodents by far :)

Last I heard, the SNES compatibility there was less than stellar.

Basically everything except for Mario 1-3 on NES and Super Mario Land 1 on Game Boy.
