I was looking around Amazon.com and came across this on the page for Asphalt 2 (http://www.amazon.com/Ubisoft-16289-Asphalt-Urban-GT/dp/B000BJV0LI/sr=11-1/qid=1167821247/ref=sr_11_1/105-0064446-3402056):

Wild guess says the reviewer has never heard of the Pussycat Dolls and thinks they're a bunch of porn stars or something.

After their 15 minutes is over...they probably will be.

Actually, this is becoming a reocurring issue. I had two different parents return the game because apparently the images are very 'racy' (no pun intended) for a game only rated E.

I haven't seen them myself, I'll have to see if I can snag a used one and see what all the fuss is about.

I've seen 10 year olds wearing racier outfits than the pussycat dolls, that's for sure

The Pussycat Dolls are pretty racy. Every song of theirs is about sex and removing some piece of clothing. and they wear some pretty racy clothes.

True they're not that bad, but I don't see anything wrong with a mother/father showing concern over racy images on a game that was intended for everyone ages 10 and up.

At least some parents still care.

I agree. PCD is pretty racy.

Aren't we as gaming advocates always defending the gaming industry by telling parents out there that they need to watch what their kids are playing? Well here is a case where a parent actually does care; she is going out of her way to ensure that she is purchasing games with content that is acceptable for her 10 year old child pursuant to the ESRB rating; she is doing the right thing by monitoring the content of her child's games even though the ESRB rating has indicated it is acceptable for everyone; moreover, she is potentially helping out other potential buyers by telling them that this may not be acceptable for their children if they feel likewise.

And now we make fun of her because we don't share the same values, or we may disagree with what she thinks is acceptable for an "E" rating.

Haha. Fine and dandy like sour candy LOL

Seriously, is this game really that detailed and "porno"? Anyone have a picture of the chicks in the game?

"Bras" and "racy poses" would, at best, warrant a "Teen" rating. I don't think it should be the extreme of "Mature".

However, props goes out to a parent who gives a damn about their kids gaming content.

Ye, its too many parents that doesnt give a shit, sadly. But i think violence is the most important thing to keep kids away from, like parents who let their 10 year old kids play games like GTA, which is kinda scary. But keeping a 10 year old kid away from a girl with some scampy clothes.. i wouldnt do that unless it was hardcore nudity.

I don't really have any sort of problem with that "review". It's not like they quoted bible verses and said the developers should go to hell, threatened to sue the company, or anything extreme like that.

I'd much rather have these "Ned Flanders" parents around rather than the ones that let their kids dress like gangstas/hookers and treat people like crap.

I am glad this parent is taking a stand and saying something. If games are to be rated, then the ratings need to be consistant with what content is in them. This is an example of the ratings failing parents who do care. I am a school counselor but an avid gamer. This game should not be E rated because it will confuse the people who dont want to see teen rated content.

Three people have commented that the content isn't appropriate for an "E" game. It's not an "E" game, it's "E10+". If your 10 year-old ever watches prime-time TV, s/he has seen women in skimpy clothing. I would think that the average 10 year-old watches prime-time TV.

While I do applaud the woman for a) checking the ESRB ratings, b) watching what her kid is playing, and c) caring enough to be vocal about her disapproval, I think her idea of what the average 10 year-old is exposed to regularly is skewed.

Does anybody know what content descriptors are on that game?

Just because a child at 10 years of age is exposed to content such as "skimpy clothing" does not mean that as parents we should approve of it. Working at the job I do(School Counselor), I talk to kids and parents that take the approach that "my kid has seen that before" or "he already plays games with content that is more mature". These types of spineless comments are just the very thing that gets parents into trouble(Trust me I see it at my job). Part of being a parent is taking a stand on what is right and wrong for your childeren and deciding what is appropriate for them to be exposed to. For me personally, I would not have my 10 year old play a game that puts women in suggestive themes. I want to educate my children on healthy roles women play and support games that support that theme. I am well aware that games of today are for gamers of all ages. We are all affected on what content we expose ourselves to.

Amazon reviews are almost 75% of the time completely worthless drivel. Case in point, the subject of this thread.

Mild suggestive themes = skimpy clothing. The lady shouldn't complain.

@swlovinist- Yes, I understand that each parent sets what is appropriate, but ratings cannot be set to the lowest common denominator. A rating of E10 should be appropriate for the AVERAGE 10 year old. If the average 10 year old is regularly exposed to skimpy clothing, then there is no reason to complain about the rating.

One thing they have been good for from time to time have been little nuggets of info from someone who has taken the plunge and bought whatever it is that you're looking at. This happens most often with older DVDs from shitty studios that don't specify whether or not the transfer is full or widescreen. Of course, even then most reviews are still worthless, but high-five for the guy that warns everybody else about the shitty transfer/glitches/etc.

Okay - I'm American, so I hafta know....

What is it about a little T&A that's so offensive? Why does the American public freak out over a little nudity?

When I was a kid, alot of our PG movies had boob flashes, every now and then.... Jaws had full on nudity in the opening scene.

I just don't understand peoples logic, sometimes.

I pretty much grew up on R rated movies.

"Revenge of the Nerds" was a movie I watched a whole lot.
