hello everyone, have a quick question, is anyone else having a problem with the wii when certain menus are being displayed ?, example would be when i updated the firmware my tv was flickering on and off and i couldn't turn it off had to unplug it, this problem also happens while playing trauma center, the part where you have to use the defribrulator, my screen just flickers on and off , any ideas what could be causing it, how i can fix it?

the jerk in me wants to say that the "emp generated by the defibrilator is causing it", but I won't.

it would help however if you gave the brand and model of your tv, what type of cabling are you using with the wii and what firmware(tv-wise) are you using.

Is it an old tv?

I had a old 36 inch tv that would go nuts if there was to much red on the screen.

So something like that with maybe a certain color could be causing the problem. Try changing your tint/color settings.

Sounds like an RCA problem. I had an older RCA that would flicker to a blank screen with the word "Video" (As if the channel was on but nothing was inputting.) whenever I would play a Genesis game or SNES game and the screen flickered to white. (Like when lightning is cracking or such.)

Might just be RCA. How old was it? It's flat so it's not too old I guess.

Could the TV be 480i and the Wii set to 480p?

Not necessarily. I was forced to switch TVs when I got my current DVD player because the TV I was using (a 20" Zenith) would choke like that during lightning flashes (like the one Angel used to use during scene transitions) or other strobing effects (like the type that used to be used in cartoons and video games before people started having seizures). I suspect that it's a combination of multiple factors in the design process of the TV in question and the device plugged into it.

not sure exactly how old the tv is, i've had it for about 3 or 4 months but it was pre owned the only thing i really use it for is gaming and i never had a problem with it until recently

Let me put it this way, the Wii killed half of my plasma screen for a while. Literally the entire bottom half of it turned off. On another tv, it made the entire screen red.

Hasn't stopped me from playing it, but yeah to be very honest, I have seen some weird tv issues with it.

Huh?? That's strange, are you guys sure the Wii did all that? It doesn't happen with anything else?
