Well, open beta is here and I'm currently downloading the client (been going for 11 hours now) and I'm pretty excited to give it a try. Anyone here going to try it out? If so, we should all get together and play. Post here and let's get something going.

Here's their website:
http://vanguardsoh.com/
There are some forums there plus you can see artwork, screenshots, etc...
A friend of mine did a lot of the character animation so I'll probably get this one. It is made by the same guys that did EQ2 so it should be more challenging than WoW. Plus, the graphics look a whole lot better than EQ or EQ2.
Anyway, I'm getting it downloaded right now so we'll see.

Me and my guild(link in sig) have been in the beta for awhile. I've been quite enjoying the game. I just hope they do dignity to the PvP servers and launch them with a decent ruleset. IE: Not pussified ones like WoW.

I don't care about the beta but when Vanguard is released I'll be in with my EQ2 guildies.

The original EverQuest was a big disappointment to me. After playing it for a year, I realized that it just wasn't worth it to shell out money every month to wait in lines just to kill bad guys. Multiplayer coop games that are not massive are way more fun for me.
Another game by the designer of EQ doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

I agree to an extent, which is why i could never play on a pure PvE based server where i was forced to wait in line. On a PvP one however, where i can fight players over content - Different story, and thats what i find fun.
It's all about the immersiveness of the world, and your place in it. PvP servers have more actual "Roleplaying" so to speak, as actions, diplomacy, how you react, matter and have long running consequences. I never could get into EQ1's PvE server. But there original Rallos Zek PvP one i loved.
