Let's hope there's an actual retail release for the 360...with achievements. I can't wait.

To be honest I hope it comes to XBLM (with Achievements of course) so I don't have to go out and buy it.

Oh boy, I can't wait. In my opinion, Oblivion should have been game of the year. If it had come out in the fall I think that it would have.

Wow...that would be sweet on the 360....but I bet they don't bring it due to size/disc swapping constraints... :(

Very cool though I must admit I haven't played it yet. Just been to busy playing other games.

I don't think there's any question on whether this will be released on the 360...it certainly will be. What I meant is, I hope there's an official retail release...not just another Xbox Marketplace download.

I agree. Oblivion was my personal pick for GOTY.

A little update:

It's official, the expansion pack will have 250 achievement points (10 achievements). Gamespot and IGN have hands-on reviews up right now.

It's going to be tough for me to get back into Oblivion after a year or so. Curious to see how the difficulty scales up with a character that was maxed in most categories in Oblivion though.

Same here. I have not played the game for ages. I will end up getting the expansion, and since I own the game for my PC, I should be able to get back into it quite easily.

IGN(for the 360):
The second full expansion pack to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Shivering Isles allows players to explore The Isles of Mania and Dementia. Players will be able to reach the Shivering Isles through a door on an island that appears in Niben Bay near Bravil. The expansion will extend Oblivion's gameplay for another 30+ hours, and includes new quests, creatures, and dungeons. Among the new monsters are the Gatekeeper, a collection of bodyparts that have been stitched together, and the Knights of the Order, made up of tree roots.

Elderscrolls.com:
The Windows version of Shivering Isles will be available at retail and is co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games, while the Xbox 360 version is currently planned for release through Xbox LiveŽ online entertainment network by Bethesda Softworks.

Release: March 27th
Price: $30.00

...A little pricey if you ask me. I remember bitching about the $15 GRAW expansion pack last year. Hmmm.

Thank goodness I have Oblivion for PC.

Actually, I'm having more fun with Morrowind right now. Crazy huh?

Also, the first official expansion pack for Oblivion (but then it isn't, it seems) was Knights of the Nine. It's basically the downloads (horse armor, orrery, wizard's tower) and a new quest concerning some crusader armor.

This new one looks pretty darn good, but I'm probably going to have to wait until the price comes down. Will be getting Knights first, I imagine.

Excellent! I defenitely wanted this to come to 360, since I deleted my pc saves and only have my 360 character now. I'll be unlocking some good ol' achievements while my dark elf goes around punching that scary guy in the face with his 130% chameleon street clothes fearing no retaliation.

Why would you have 130% Chameleon? 100% renders you completely undetectable.

Man ... at $30 I want a retail release, not some downloadable content I could theoretically lose or be locked out of at some point in the future.

You will always have access to your downloadable content from Xbox Live. Once you pay for something, you can delete it and download it as many times as you want to whatever 360 your gamertag is linked to.

Even so, all things being equal, I would've preferred a retail release as well.

LOL, now I can point and laugh at my friend who thought he was done with Oblivion. Not my bag, but still pretty cool nonetheless.

Given Microsoft's current DRM policy, which may change in the future, if I were to

A. get a new Xbox 360 and no longer have access to my current system (which is "authorized" for the content), and

B. not renew my subscription to Xbox Live at some point in the future (which would mean I could not sign in to Live to authorize my profile),

then I could no longer use the downloaded content. Until MS changes this requirement to perpetually renew my Live subscription if my console fails, I'm not spending more than 800 points on any single piece of downloadable content.

Just my 2˘.

There is a key item you mentioned that is incorrect, and really changes the whole scenario.

XBLA content is dependant on two things, your gamertag (not your Xbox Live account) and a 360 which is offically associated with that gamertag. Please keep in mind that your gamertag and Xbox Live account are two different things. You can have your gamertag associated with any 360 (one at a time, of course).

As long as you have your original gamertag and access to the Xbox Live servers (via free silver membership or paid gold membership)...it doesn't matter what 360 your downloading your previously paid for content to. As long as your gamertag is associated with it, you can access it.

As long as you have your ... access to the Xbox Live servers (via free silver membership or paid gold membership)

That's actually the problem. You see, I'm on my second Xbox 360. Most of my XBL content was purchased on my previous console. When Xbox Live went down yesterday, I couldn't play the full versions of any of my XBLA games because I actually have to be signed in to Live to use them now. Same goes for purchased content in GRAW, etc. which was originally purchased on my previous 360. Had I purchased it on this console, I could play it offline (as could any other profile on my system).

Microsoft will discontinue 360-compatible Xbox Live at some point in the future (probably at least 5 years, hopefully longer). I may have to cancel my broadband internet access to save some money due to unforseen circumstances. Either way, I won't be able to access the Shivering Isles pack if my console dies again ... which I'm not ruling out. I know it's a stretch, but it is entirely possible for me to drop $30 on the Shivering Isles pack and lose access to it in the future.

I'm not dogging anyone that decides to buy it. Heck, I might not even care in 10 years if I can't play it any longer. I'm just saying a retail release would fix that up nicely. :)

I understand what you mean. I also agree that it can be annoying to not have access to the things you paid for. Hopefully MS will correct this issue in the future, but they would have to arrange some way to prevent users from "giving" their friends all of their downloaded content. I see this becoming a huge issue 2-3 years down the line.

You have to let a day or two pass. When you wake up you'll get a message that a "mysterious island has appeared in Niben Bay". You'll get your first achievement just by going to the island and walking through the door that appears.

Oh cool man thanks for the reply, I gues I did not play long enough to get the message thought it was like the other updates and you get the message right away. Thanks again.
