So, I am going to show off my Microvision to my friend, take it out of the original box, turn it on, and nothing.

No big deal, I just get another 9 vold battery and try again.

Only this time, still nothing.

OMGZ! My poor beloved Microvision is not functioning!

Help!

What do I do?

w00t! I fixed it.

I used the time honored method of taking something apart and putting it back together without doing anything, and it worked! :D

Stroke of luck there, Microvisions seem to be biting the dust left, right and centre. Neither of mine ever worked, maybe I should have at them with some toolage...

Man, I wish tech support was that quick.

Hasn't LCD screen rot rendered most of them nonfunctional? I thought that was generally the case.

Mine has never worked :(. I got it at a thrift years ago. It didn't have a battery cover and I wasn't sure what batteries it took since it had all those contacts. I assumed four AA's although it wasn't a perfect fit. So I jury rigged a connection, turned it on and felt the thing getting super super hot.

"Duh, maybe I should check the intarwebs." That's when I found out the darn thing only needs 1 9-volt. But by that point I had cooked it too badly to be anything other than a decoration :smash:.

I used to hold out hope that one day I might resurrect the thing. Now...not so much :bawling:.

The LCD screen-rot on the Microvision is a commonly overstated problem. My system's screen is dim in some places, but it is holding up lick a champ.

What was wrong with my unit was the part at the top, where the cart connects, was loose. It's actually a seperate peice and can come loose quite easily.

All in all, I am really relieved that I don't have to replace it. Not that they're difficult to replace; a working unit can be had off of eBay for $30 or so.

I am only one game away from having a complete US Microvision collection. (Cosmic Hunter, where are you?)

Ever since I found a boxed Microvision at a Salvation Army as-is store for a few bucks in 2005, its LCD screen was ruined to the point of basically being unplayable, doomed to a lifetime of being stacked up high on a shelf. Oh well. At least it's a good conservation piece.

I have two of them and they both work perfectly, LCD screens actually work really well. I had to solder the battery connection terminals on one of the systems when I first got it but other then that they work great.

I don't really play it much since to be honest the games arent really all that good and it eats 9 volts like candy.

I really enjoy playing mine. Sea Duel is pretty good, in fact, I'd say it's timeless.
