Hello! Is there any way to restore or change the LCD from and old model Game Boy?
It is a GB from "play it loud" period, a Manchester United LE.
It hasn't the screen protector (easy fix, I'll replace it with an official one) so the display (not the screen cover) has been scratched.

I know that the LCD is strongly attached to the PCB. Changing all the LCD apparatus would mean desoldering. I may change the whole PCB, but this would mean changing also the serial number of it. From a collector point of view...I don't like it.
So, is there a way to remove scratches or to change just the upper glass of the LCD?

thanks

How would changing one of the boards change the serial number? It's been a while, is it printed on a board?

The 2 PCBs and the screen have matching serial numbers on them.

Maybe I can try to use some solvent to melt a little bit the top of the display to clear the scratches.
Anyone has ever tried it?

Now thid is funny.

I've tried with a little bit of nitro solvent.

Nothing.

I've let a lot of solvent on the screen.

Nothing.

I've used thoothpaste with abrhasive powder.

Nothing.

The screen is always with all the scratches.
What should I use next? Fire?

That's not plastic. Can't be so strong.
