It's been working fine since I bought it. But when I powered up my 360 today, only the main drive was being recognized.

So I unplugged the drive, and tried re-installing it (software and everything) then reconnecting it.

It's powering up, ejecting and spinning the disc, but my 360 isn't recognizing it. It's only recognizing the main drive.

What did I do?

UPDATE - Well I got my 360 to recognize it again, but I still keep getting a message that says:

"Cant connect to your HD DVD player. Please check your connections. For more info, got to www.xbox.com/support."

All the connections are okay.

Sounds like a software problem of some kind.

One time my HD-DVD drive didn't work with my 360, but I think it had something to do with me having the power completely shutoff on both of them, and then just powering up the 360 seperately and the adding back the HD-DVD add on later. It didn't work, and I had to reload the software. Then it worked, but then a day later that 360 died. (It was an original launch day 360). I then was able to return that 360 to Costco (gotta love Costco's return policy) and got a new 360 and then hooked my HD-DVD unit to that, and everything's been fine since. Hopefully your 360 doesn't die like mine does. It was kinda strange how my 360 died like 2 days after I hooked up the HD-DVD to it for the first time. Probably just a coincidence.

Screw it. I took it back to Target, and they gave me a new one. It works.

I think it was either the USB cable or the laser got messed up, somehow.
