I just bought a Lunar Eternal Blue box set from a pawn shop. It looks like no one had opened anything other than the game. Anyway, I was trying to see if there were any scratches on the soundtrack and well... it wouldnt come out. So I pull and it finally came out. It looks like glue from when they glued the two sides of the soundtrack case together leaked out to where the disc was to be placed.

I have tried using disc cleaner and a glasses cloth, but there is still residue on it. Will using Goo Gone mess up the disc?

I had the same problem with 2 different copies of that game that I had. I am guessing that it was a production problem. I think that I may have used goo gone to get the glue off. but I am not positive.

No, goo gone will not mess up the disc. Believe it or not the data is actually on the top side of CDs. It is a clear misconception that it is on the bottom side. The bottom half is just a clear plastic. You'd be doing more harm by scratching up the label side than the bottom. If you are worried that much, rub some 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol over the area and let it dry when you are done cleaning the disc.

BTW, almost every single complete copy of this game that I ever had, had this same problem.

My original copy doesn't have this problem. I must have gotten really lucky.

Thats only partly true, I work at an EB and me and fellow worker found a Spyro with a huge scratch through the label (could see the light through it) we were gonna junk it so we messed around with it, the label came off like a scratch off we put it into a PS2 to see if it was completely busted it still played perfectly even with 50% of the label missing, had to take a razor blade to it to do it in, discs are alot more resiliant today. I doubt anybody would have wanted it when it had that big scratch in it (thus by policy it must be junked) so it wasn't a big deal and besides that game sucked.

Then the data layer under the label was still intact. You still can do more damage to a disc by scratching the top side than the bottom side. That is why discs can be resurfaced to a point on the bottom, but never on the top.
