well, you have no idea how glad I am to see hype about this already! :D
I'll be there for sure, as I'm part of the event staff.
event details are at www.midwestgamingclassic.com .
The event is june 9th and 10th - though if you come into town friday night, there's going to be a killer pre-show party. =D:villagepeople:

I'm bumping this....because, well I want to. I can't wait til June (10th specifically). Up until about 2 months ago, I was sure I wasn't going to be going, simply because of a lack of interest in gaming as a hobby, but not so. I went last year, bought a ton of stuff, kicked some ass on Marathon (my picture is in MWGC '06 thread buried somewhere here, taken before I was even a member of the boards.) Myself and probably 4+ friends are going, it's going to be a blast.

I will probably be there (unless something stupid pops up) as I'm only a hop, skip and a jump away from the event.

Ecresto: You'll love it. My buds and I were amazed when we first walked into the vendor area at the sheer volume of stuff for sale, anything for Master System to Dreamcast, Nes to Gamecube, etc. You'll have a blast, and hell, even if you leave near it, and have only $10 in your pocket, it's worth it to just get in and look around for the day.
When the event is coming near, expect pms from me to some of you saying you'll be there, just so that I can say that I "know" people on the boards. Hopefully we can meet up and check out some stuff together or something.
(And I'm glad I got so many more people to see this from my bump.) :D
Edit: By the way, Arasoi, if you're there, you had BETTER bring those SOTN banners..... :)

Actually, we're planning on doing something that should really help everyone meet up at the show. At the entrance to the halls, we are going to put up two boards (we're hoping for corkboards, but something like that) where you can leave notes to your friends or for whatever, so they can find you at the show. It will be totally free to do, and anyone can put up just about anything they want (of course, as long as it isn't profane or lewd). So, at the show if someone wants to make a DP meet-up area, just stick up a post that says when and where you'll be meeting, and everyone check the board for it when you arrive!
I can't wait! We've got a ton of announcements ready to go, and I'm getting more and more pumped for the show every day now! Hope to see you all there!

Who's going?
I'll be attending as a vendor. I'm planning on bringing a van packed full of import games: Famicom, Super Famicom, PC Engine, Sega Saturn, Playstation, Neo Geo, Wonderswan, some out of print current gen stuff, and more.
Moreover, I have a lot of really unique and unusual stuff set aside that I will also be bringing like import magazines for PC Engine and Sega Saturn, soundtracks, strategy guides, etc.
I've requested electricity so I hope I can hookup a TV or two to allow people to try out games and systems in my booth.
I really like what Dan (of Goatstore) is doing with the MWGC and I am really glad to have the opportunity to be a part of it.

This is a good idea, but I think an even better one, in terms of helping people meet each other, would be official MWGC Name Badges. Especially as many gamers aren't especially outgoing in person, a basic badge that simply listed a name and an online handle might help two strangers quickly realize that they have known each other online for years. It could be as simple as a black and white bage insert with 3 blank lines:
Name: _________________ (Actual Name)
AKA: __________________ (Handle, ie: Goodwill Hunter, Goatdan, etc.)
On: ____________________ ( Digital Press, Atari Age, etc.)
You could also add the event logo, offer a preprinted color version as an incentive to preregister, and even have the things pay for themselves by charging sponsors a small fee to have everyone wear their logo for the day at the bottom of the badge. Not sure what others think, but it would sure make it easier for me to introduce myself to others if I spotted a familiar handle pinned to an otherwise stranger's shirt.
By the way Dan, I just found out that my catalog print date is June 12th (in state), so I should be able to attend again this year...please let me know if you'd still like that big orange demo console in the museum, or if you'll be needing any extra TVs or monitors.
Looking forward to the show,
Rich

Well I am for sure going to be there. Just arranged 2 weeks off work payed vacation June 1-15. Driving to Illinois to pick up forum member Mills, and off to the show the 9th and 10th.
I was able to get 3 big tables to put the Castlevania collection on, it wont be enough for everything but I plan to cycle stuff out and change the display randomly, to keep it interesting.
Can't wait!

I plan to be there too. I took off work (the wkend) specifically to go. I planned to go w/ aceaerosmith & his fiance, but they backed out, so now it's just me & my wife, & I'm dragging her through all the exhibits/rooms again.
We went in '04 & had a good time. Got a list started already of what I'm buying there.

I definitely plan on showing up again this year... I dropped a good $100 last year picking up NES carts I needed. I'll try and see if I can get a couple people to come along this time... the pinball machines on freeplay is enough to keep my brother entertained the entire day alone.

I'll be there. I was at the one when it was in Brookfield, forget how long ago that was. Really looking forward to making it this year, since I think I've gotten more into the collection aspect of older video games. Should be more fun this time knowing more about everything.
I was SO mad last year, cause I was planning on going, but then forgot about it over the summer. Around August (when planning for GenCon), I remember, but it was too late. It sucked waiting this long again to have to go, but I'm def. going this time!!

Saddly to say I'll be backing out this year due to the fact, that I forgot
to book my room a head of time and my travel cost wasn't worth coming because of that.
I'm however working out some details to have some Jagfest Tour shirts being sold there as well having a Tour shirt and black cap for prize being sent there
as well.

Yes they are, sorry that wasn't made more clear to you. We are planning on sending everything out in the next two weeks. If you have pre-ordered tickets, don't worry -- you will get them :) Along with the free lapel pin too, which will be a coupon to pick yours up. We're only making 250 of them, and they'll be $5.00 at the show, so if you want one, this is the best way to do it I think!

I'm vending again this year. Gots me a booth!
Anyone like to tell me what they'd like me to bring, games for systems wise?
If you are into any classic imports, please tell me as I have tons of spare import stuff to sell- 2600, Odyssey, and other more obscure stuff. Systems like C64 or VIC I won't be as likely to bring unless someone can tell me they are interested in 'collecting' for it (that is, not just looking, but perhaps buying something that isn't impossibly rare).
Also, if anyone is looking for a particular system near or below market rates, do tell. For example, if someone wants to buy a Coco3 (I guess I'd want $20 or so for it?) or other weird system/computer, please tell me. Or if you are looking for a regular setup, like SMS or Atari 2600 or whatever.
I plan to bring SMS games, Colecovision games, 2600 games, a Virtual Boy set complete in box with some games, a loose Vec system, and some boxed hardware like TI99. I have alot more, but haven't sorted it out yet.
Thanks,
ian

Are the rooms ajoinging? They couldnt guarentee that mine would be like they were last year. I'm going to have to see if I can work some magic when I get there otherwise.
Well, a "double" isn't 2 ACTUAL (adjoining) rooms, is it? I thought it was 2 beds in 1 room. If it's 2 rooms, connected or not, she may not like that...

I am not able to make it this year or the CGE for that matter. I just paid for fillings and my dental cleaning with the insurance not covering it along with middle of my getting my own computer and paying for my 10 day vocation I will take in August. Also for the Midwest Classic, my brother isn't taking off due him being on the 10 day vocation in August with me.
If I decided to go, I wouldn't have spent alot of money outside 1 homebrew game with it being beefdrop for the 7800. If I decided to go, I like to spend a good deal of money for games and stuff I don't have and that includes homebrews. I went to the 2002 MGC and I spent a good deal of money on games and on a sms light gun along with my brother spending money for games also.

That's too bad. The difference between the MC 2002 and the MGC 2007 is about as different at the graphics on the 2600 compared to the Playstation 3. Sure, you're still playing a game, but it looks *completely* different.
