Parodius

For the Parodius fans out there, which version(s) do you consider to be the best of the bunch ? I'm looking to get into the series as I've been blowing through my other shmups lately. PC Engine, Genny, SNES are the only systems that I can play imports on right now, so narrowing it down to those would be helpful ;)

oddly enough, i like the famicom version the best- it just has this clean, simple look to it. anyway, go with the sfc or pc-e version, if you can nab them...

If you have a Saturn, don't forget that the Saturn is EXTREMELY easy to coax into playing imports. Cheap ST-Key... boom!

There are three Parodius games for the import Saturn...

1. Gokujyo Parodius-Da! Deluxe Pack (Parodius 1 and 2, aka Da! and 2)
2. Jikkyou Osyaberi Parodius (aka Forever With Me and/or Chatting Parodius)
3. Sexy Parodius

Konami Antiques MSX Collection contains a PORT of the original Parodius Da! for the old Japanese MSX computer. It's a port of a port, essentially, and not as good as the one on Gokujyo Parodius-Da! Deluxe Pack.

Yeah, Atari 7800 is correct 100%. And I don't think Sexy Parodius came out for Famicom. ?

Gokujyo Parodius-Da! Deluxe Pack for Saturn is a must. You can get it fairly cheap, if you're patient and have good eyes (I think I got mine for about $30 on eBay.) It's also on PSX (boooo!!!!) and if you find it at a store, it's gonna be cheaper than the Ssturn.

If you have to make a decision between Sexy Parodius on PSX or Saturn go with Saturn. I think some of the visuals on some levels looked a bit better and the audio is 44.1khz as opposed to PSX's XA standard 37.4(?)khz. The only thing that the PSX version has over the Saturn version is a memory background page showing those two girls who ride rockets.

The audio is 37.4(?)khz for Saturn and PSX on Parodius Deluxe Pack and they're both pretty much the same looking.

Chatting Parodius is my least favorite of the series. It's a bit different from the other games. Felt kinda dull.
