What ever happened to this game? Brian Provinciano's site for it is down.
www.grandtheftendo.com
I noticed his site bripro.com hasn't been updated in a year either.
Hmmm. Anyone got news on this?

Aye, I just noticed that too. There was an update (or rather a rearranging) a few months ago.

I'm just posting this to let you guys know what's up.
Brian and I were working on an interview right before E3. He said we would finish it up when he returned. Instead, life got busy for him. The best I can figure is that he was offered a job while at the show, and hasn't had the time to work on any other projects. Most likely, he got a job that wont allow him to work on such projects. IT was two days before E3 when he sent me new screenshots of Grandtheftendo, and then he never mentioned it again. I think we'll have to put this in the "dead and gone" file.
On a happy note, Dreamcast homebrew is starting to pick up in popularity again!

This game would be playable only through emulation anyway, which was a bit of letdown. However, it would be cool to try it :)

Did he not have intentions to make a limited run of genuine carts?

Afaik it was suppose to be running on a MMC5 mapper, which means you could easaly make a cart of it. Just get a game that uses the MMC5 chip and send it to someone who knows how to make repros and it shouldnt be any problem. But due to limitations they had to move it over to a custom mapper.

I'll have to see it to believe it. Also, since no footage was ever shown, that too would help it's case in the near future. I also was looking forward to this hopefully you're right and I'm wrong.
