i dont know why it says that i started this topic today. i did it last night.
Anyone?
The reason Im not doing it myself is that most of the programs needed to set up the dash, bios, etc are PC related. Ive got a Mac. Plus I work 50 hrs a week then going to school part time. No time.

You'd probably be better off just buying a pre-modded Xbox. I was looking to get my Xbox modded recently but after totaling up the costs of getting a good mod chip, HDD replacement, installation fees, plus shipping, I could have bought a system that was already modded with everything I wanted for about the same price.
I ended up selling my old Xbox and used the cash I got from that to buy a pre-modded system from someone in the forms here. Saved a lot of money doing it that way.
(BTW, it's easy to install the roms & apps yourself. I use a Mac too and all you gotta do is run a FTP program to transfer the files from your Mac to the Xbox. Just drop everything in the right folders once you're connected. I use Trasmit and it works great.)

Pre-Modded is the way to go. I just bought a Halo Edition modded XBOX for $400. Has a 160gig and all the roms I could ever need, from Colecovision, atari, 64, NES, SNES, PS, PC, several handhelds, and a bunch of other systems.

Plus it had all my favorite Barbie and Mary Kate and Ashley games, and instead of that icky green color, it was painted a fun and playful shade called passion pink. Score!

I'm really impressed with how well the Xbox version of MAME runs. Pretty much most games made in 1995-6 and earlier run smooth with no slowdown. The other night, I booted up Police Trainer (light gun game from 97-98) and that worked perfect too. Guess it all depends on the the types of roms you use too.
There's also an app called FBA-XXX that emulates CPS1/CPS2 + Neo Geo arcade roms. I loaded it up with the complete rom sets and I have yet to play a game on it that doesn't run at full speed. Even newer stuff like Marvel Vs. Capcom, Streetfighter Alpha 3, and Giga Wing run flawlessly on it.
