what is the worst shipping offenses that you've come across on ebay recently?

I have had two of them recently.

Offense #1 - Auctions 3403312018 and 3403312046. I'd won two boxed Apple II game for obviously a lot less than he had hope they would go for. The seller (lhfarm1) wants $15 to ship them. combined they weighed less than 2lbs.

Offense #2 - I won 9 separate auctions for boxed NES games, (one auctions is 3013241736) again obviously at a lot less than the seller must have wanted. Only a few cents each for a few of them. So what does the seller want to ship them to me? Try $45 shipping!!. I shit you not. Seller's name is familyfundist and while they have a lot of rep it doesn't excuse trying to charge $45 shipping for what has to be a three pound package.

One springs to mind, the reason I have 1 bad feedback on my record now...

I won 7 loose C64 carts, I needed a couple of them at the time. Total weight in a package... I dunno... definitely no more than 2lb. Seller wanted $25 to ship them here. Well bollocks to that.. I told them it wouldn't cost that much, showed them links etc to how I wanted it sent and so on. Well things went quiet for 3 months and then the bad feedback suddenly appeared. I guess they went back through their records and saw the lack of transaction. They had already put the carts back on eBay (and they ended up going for less than they had when I won them, HAH!) by then too...

I think my poll question would be 'does anybody bid when shipping rates are not listed in the terms of the acution?'

The worst I've come across is a person who was selling nes games for a cent each, then charging $5.99 for shipping/handling. :o x_x I despise people who try to make money by overcharging shipping.

for just one nes game $5.99 seems like a lot, but if he was saying it was priority mail with insurance and delivery conf. that's just about right. I don't know why you would need all that stuff for a little loose game but anyway. What I hate is bubble wrap is like $3 for a tiny roll. We must go through 10 rolls a week.

What I have usually done when unsure of shipping is to calculate it on the shipping company's website. Then, I'll add a couple of bucks, and assure the buyer that if it's less than I asked for I will refund the excess funds upon shipment. I haven't had a problem with it yet and have refunded excess funds many times. Some people don't believe you... but all you can do is offer, right?

Ebay has rules against this. You cannot set low sell prices and then extreme shipping prices. The rule is in place to prevent people from avoiding ebays listing fees.

What I hate is that I can typically buy a boxed Master System game from Austrailia, or the UK, and often pay less than what a US seller wants to charge me for shipping.

Every smart buyer will look for the shipping/handling costs before bidding.
I will not bid on anything if it does not include shipping and/or handling costs.
It all figures in with what you want to spend.
Would you rather have "eBay" make ($.03) or the "seller" make ($.03)?

Or do you even care who makes $.03? You have to pay it either way.
