Just so I know, do I get to screw over both Sony AND Gamestop if my PS2 only plays PS1 games?

Yeah it is the first under the cover of darkness sign that the units aren't moving. Sonys so called press release of a million shipped is really a million sitiing in the back rooms due to over pricing. A ps3 hawker was outside the store today complining that he had dump his ps3 because they weren't moving. I remember when this happened for the psp. I was blown away when I got the email for the psp hey but a deal is a deal.

I just hope sony drops the price like yesterday. I am starting to think that developers are staying away its is almost 2 months and the same games are there man.

Decent deal, IF the PS3 could actually display PS2 games correctly.

A new 60 gig PS3 on ebay I tossed $100 at ended up at $550.

That's right, the PS3's are selling below retail on ebay.

Baaaaad sign.

Guess those idiot resellers need to go with Plan B.

Sony is lucky that Microsoft and Nintendo aren't going to be releasing a follow-up console anytime soon. Regardless of how well the PS3 sells right now, Sony isn't in a race against the clock to get rid of them. They have a little time. I suppose the game developers and retailers would be getting antsy sooner or later, though.

I think there's probably a fair bit in the pipeline. It takes a lot more than two months to produce a game, obviously, and the developers' time frames were no doubt affected by the late release of devkits, etc. I'm sure some games will start coming out, but yeah the news is bad all around - so far, at least.

And the way I see it, anyway, sony's really stuck because they just can't drop the price. I think they are already selling so far below cost that they just don't have any options... and the price increases in Europe /Australia would seem to bear that out.

I hear ya on that. I like keeping spares in rooms I know I'll be in quite frequently.

That $100 off sounds like a sweet deal though, might have to pick up another one..lol

It's a sweet deal if you can find a free PS2 to trade and you really wanted a PS3. The prices of used (60GB) units at indy stores around here is around $450-500, which personally I think is a better deal because I know they test their products out the ass and give 6mo warrenties. eBay sellers are getting shafted and it's hillarious. As an online seller they should absolutely be looking at a market before jumping in from rumors of profits still being made, which pretty much ended around Christmas. After fees these $550 auctions are going to reach deeper into their pockets, I'd say they'll get a good loss that'll make them think twice before selling Sony products.
