I posted about this a long time ago but I never had pics. I got it at CGE 2004 in the trade room with a Famicom Disk System. I didn't even notice it wasn't Nintendo. It is made from the same mold as an original Famicom or a copy of it. Everything is the same except the sticker says "Video Game" instead of "Family Computer", the Nintendo copyright is not in the mold on the bottom of the case and it has factory A/V output. Unfortunately it doesn't work right. When I got it one controller wasn't working in some directions and now the video output is scrambled like the cartridge is making a bad connection. Maybe I damaged something when I had it apart. Anyone seen anything like this?

Is it a prototype? That is what my first thought would be.

I think it is a knock-off. Probably sold in Hong Kong or something. I've seen toys where the copyright portion of a mold is taken off but the rest is the same. Even the sticker on the bottom has the tm missing. Is that "Nintendo" in Japanese on the sticker on the bottom? It's the same word that is on the Famicom box under "Family Computer".

That is an original 1983 Japanese Famicom. It's not a knock off, it's an official Nintendo product. :)

It isn't a real famicom to the dude above me it would say HVC-002 on the middles sticker and HVC-001 in the plastic just below the sticker. I am looking at mine right now as we speak I can provide pictures of an original famicom as I have a few of em ;)

Looks like just another bootleg console to me, sorry to have to say it ;)

The majority of bootleg Famicom consoles in the 80's and early 90's were made to look exactly like the Famicom. 90+% are low quality, which explains why yours is starting to die on you. One of my boxed Famicom clones has yours pictured on the box (except the controllers are slightly different):

Yep, many of the Famiclones looks very much alike the original Famicom. I've also seen a NES clone that looks very like the original NES. Altho, is it normal that a Famiclone have serialnumber sticker, like this one has?

Yep, that one on the box looks the same except for the controllers. Mine look the same as stock Famicom. Where did they sell these things? Did it come with a multicart and get sold in non-Famicom territory or was it sold in Asia? Does anyone know if the word under "Video Game" on Speedy_NES's box is Nintendo? Thanks for all the help. It's what I suspected I just hadn't seen another like it.

While many Famicom-lookalike clones were sold in regions like Eastern Europe, this particular one came from Asia. This was my first Famiclone that I had gotten through a trade with an Asian person (I don't remember which country, though). Also, not all clones came/come with multicarts...especially the first ones from the late 80s/early 90s. These were aimed at markets where Famicom bootleg games were common and easy to get ahold of.
