it's a new Ebay policy

I've seen that a few times but I haven't seen it stick for more than 20 minutes or so. Then it always reverted to the "normal" looking bid information.

Ebay does that on "expensive" items so people don't do side deals. Expensive is a word only ebay has the definition for its hit and miss right now expect all items to be this way soon.

Protects shill bidders but hell ebay makes MORE money with shill bidders so thats no big deal. Lose fees on a sale here and there and that has to be fixed.

Yep, was just thinking the same thing. Its impossible for us to know if its shillbidding or not now. But how does it work, is it only when the starting or reserve price are set high or will it change if a game reaches i.e $500 ?

You can still see possible shills cos the same bidder will have the same "Bidder X" label but yeah, you can't see their feedback in case someone does bid like 20 times in a row.

Ah yes, thats right :) I thought it just showed Bidder1, 2, 3 and so on regardless if there was several bids from the same guy

This message is what I saw when I looked at the bidding history:

As the internet evolves, eBay continues to strike a balance between preserving transparency and protecting our Community of members. eBay has decided to change how bid history information is displayed so bad guys cannot target bidders with fake offers using this information. In certain cases, some bidders will no longer be able to view Bidder User IDs on the Bid History page. Your User ID will be shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Other members will see an anonymous name, such as Bidder 1, applied consistently to the Bid History page.

Rather ironic, as I had a fake 'you won' notice in my mailbox this afternoon.

...Now my head is hurting again. What did I do now?

@ Bassgrabber: That makes good sense. As long as they show the real usernames afterward, there shouldn't be a problem figuring out shills.

Oh don't worry, nothing bad, just corrected your bold statement as it wasn't working properly ;)

no more espionage, and I'll not be able to identify who won on dev-finds topic.

I'm a little bit sad.

Ah...bet I forgot the forward slash on the closing tag, or a random square bracket. Thanks!

You still will, once auctions are over, the winning bidder has their name revealed, but no others.

Yes! I saw that! Now I am much more happy since I have a little bit more work to do!
