I just got a Famicom Disk System and was wondering if anyone had any obscure recommendations?
I know about the Zeldas, Metroid, Kid Icarus, the Castlevanias, SMB2 & Doki Doki Panic, but what other games are good exclusives to import for the English-speaking gamer?
Even if there isn't much more, it is a pretty sweet piece of kit. Feels strangely nostalgic even though it's the first time.
As a side note, how are the 3D Glasses for the Famicom? Are they as cool as the Sega ones? If they are even remotely as neat, I may need to get on that.

I honestly can't think of anything. There's a version of Jackal (under the name of something like Final Command - have a heck of a time finding much about it) that's pretty short and unspectacular compared to the NES version. The only thing I find special about it is the game's flyer, which doesn't use the arcade flyer art, but new stuff which looks alright. I've been emulating anything that I think might be worth a purchase, and that inevitably turns me off it...like that Relics game that comes in a metal case. Argh! There is a port of Twinbee, which you might not get elsewhere. You can have mine if you want, since I've got a better port of it anyway.
As a side note, how are the 3D Glasses for the Famicom?

Wait, I haven't taken them out of the box...but playing Tobidase Daisakusen (3D Worldrunner) and the sequel (I think that one offers 3D mode too) won't light the world on fire if gameplay via FCE Ultra is any indication. Konami made some spaceship shooter with it (Falsion, I think - I have the game's flyer), again, pretty obscure, although maybe unfairly so. Again, if you think you really need to have 'em, I might as well let you have mine. They aren't worth much.

Hey, if you want to get rid of those glasses, let me know. My tradelist is rather lame, but I'm definitely interested!

There are plenty of English-friendly FDS games beyond the fare that got converted to US cartridges. Among them:
Eggerland-Think Lolo, but in an adventure format. (Partly because it is Lolo with the rooms connected to one another a la Zelda.)
Eggerland: Souzou heno Tabidachi-A more traditional Lolo adventure, though, like most of the Japanese Lolo games, the puzzles were re-used in the later levels of the American games in a sort of willy-nilly fashion.
Falsion-A shooter for use with the 3-D glasses from Konami. (More on this one later.)
Moero Twinbee: Cinnamon Hakushi o Sukue!-Stinger, but with an in-game story and the option to play with three players (via the Famicom's accessory port).
Nazo no Murasame-An action game using the Zelda engine. It should be noted that this sucker is a lot harder than most of the games Nintendo has published in America.
Almano no Kiseki-An Indiana Jones-esque action game from Konami with an odd grappling hook for a secondary item instead of Indy's standard whip.
Additionally, Ice Climber, Clu Clu Land, Vs. Excitebike, and Kaettekia Mario Bros. are all upgraded from their NES counterparts.
As for the 3-D System, games are, to be blunt, sparse for the glasses. As far as I can tell, the total games are:
JJ (the sequel to Tobidase Daisakusen, the Disk System game that became 3D Worldrunner, which used the same red/blue glasses 3D as the NES version)
Highway Star (released here as Rad Racer)
Cosmo Genesis
Animal Attack Gakuen (a Space Harrier clone from Pony Canyon)
Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally (a Disk System racing game that also utilized the Disk Fax system)
Falsion
Of these games, I only own the last three listed, and the best of the lot, Falsion, seems to have a non-functional 3D mode (due to my eyes or the fact that my Twin Famicom is plugged in without a step-down converter, I do not know). It's a neat little toy to have, but it's sorely underused, unlike the SMS glasses.

Ai Senshi Nicoru (Konami) It's a pretty cool game. Check this link.

Last time I played Almano (Arumano??) no Kiseki, it seemed to suck, and it's a bit buggy to boot.
