View Full Version : Ebay Concern: Seller Won't Send Me Invoice

I just won an N64 "lot" from a guy on Ebay. He's got a low feedback number, but it is in good standing.
After winning the auction, I never received an invoice from the guy. This is important, because he did not have shipping specified on the auction page. I should have checked for that info (and I always do), but it slipped my mind. So I shoot the guy an invoice request.
Two days later he sends me a message through Ebay's messaging system congratulating me on the win and quotes me a shipping total. But wait a minute, still no invoice.
You see, I want the invoice so I can create a "paper trail", just in case the deal goes sour. I guess I'm just being paranoid.....but these days you gotta.
Here's the auction in question:
The Auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=290070719583&rd=1&rd=1)
Here's his feedback:
His feedback (it's perfect at 100%) (http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=mesiina17578&iid=290070719583&ssPageName=VIP:feedback:2:us)
With 9 feedbacks and less than a month's experience, it's possible that he's not familiar with eBay's Send Invoice function. Personally, I wouldn't be worried.

I guess you're...a little bit, heh.
as long as you got grand total, you should be fine.
you never know with ebay, its the risk you'll have to take.

paper trail... you can forward your eBay messages to your email, but that's really not neccessary at this point.
If you end up having to open a dispute you can also file an NPS (non-performing seller) once it's resolved in your favor.
NONE of that will probably be neccessary tho... as GM80 said, new seller probably just doesn't know function yet.
Best bet for recourse (IF needed) is probably PayPal although some folks refuse use it, or send a money order if you must. I don't send checks...
If you see a "pay now" button it will probably update automatically with whatever action you take. You can mark auction as "payment sent" if it doesn't come up once you've paid, if using PayPal or money order.
You should be ok, tho... let us know how it goes if you'd like!

I sell things on ebay all the time. I don't think I've sent more than 2 invoices the entire 5 years I've used ebay. I find them unnecessary most of the time. I wouldn't worry. I pay for most of my auctions without invoices.
The problem I have right now is I bought a game on ebay. I asked the seller how much for shipping before I bid. They said $8. Now they want $10. I send them emails asking them why the ywant $10 now but get no response. And then I get an email today asking why I haven't paid. I respond and still get no response. $8 shipping brings the total to a nice even $40. Which is already overpriced unless the strategy guide is worth good money. Oh well.

Yeah, I just went ahead and paid for the darn thing. Worst case scenario, I'm out $30. But you know.....Ebay always seem to side with the buyer, for almost any reason.
It's all good though. Paid through Paypal via CC. If anything fishy happens, I'll be sure to let ya'll know.

Interesting. In the Ebay message, the seller quoted me a $10 shipping charge. When I go to pay with Paypal, it's $9. Let's hope he overlooks that one. :evil laugh:
I only send invoices to buyers that do not pay within a few days. It's basically my way of reminding them to pay. Of course, it is my experience that people who don't have the initiative to pay on their own within 5 days or so end up being non-paying bidders anyway.

It's no biggie at this point in time. I've paid and he already left me positive feedback for the transaction. So now, I await the arrival of the package.

Update for those who care:
Paid on the 17th. Seller states that the package was shipped on the 20th. It's now creeping up on the 28th and still NO PACKAGE.
What the hell did he use to send the N64? A stagecoach? I won another auction a few days after this one. The item was sent Airmail from Japan and I received it yesterday.
I sent the seller a message of "concern" regarding my lack of N64 goodness. Ah well...we'll see what happens. *_*

I have had things take 3 weeks before. In fact I won a console system lot back on the 14 and still have yet to receive it . The seller didn't even send it until a week had passed. Some of these guys seem to think they are doing you a favor for shipping you the items you bought from them. The worst part is the guy lives in ohio and I live in Missouri, it's ridiculous. I could have walked to him in this amount of time.
