Gamestop has started to liquidate their Nintendo 64 and Playstation One games. All games are Buy 1, Get 1 free. Not all stores have these still, but you might luck out. Some stores keep their "expensive" games in a drawer or a case. I lucked out, I found tons of Mario Parties, Final Fantasy VII, Persona 2, Rhapsody, Castlevania SOTN, Snowboard Kids 2, etc. Check your Gamestops! Also, if you have the 10% off card, it also combines with this deal! The only catch I have seen so far is that the computer system is not smart enough to give you the best deal. i.e. if you bring two $14.99 games to the counter, and two $4.99 games to the counter, you would get the two $4.99 games free. So what you need to do is do separate transactions if you have multiple price ranges. Be careful!

I use to be a DM for GS/EB and we made a major attempt almost a year ago to consolidate the N64/PSone games into specific stores where they would sell. I'm inredibly surpised you would find anything worth buying at this point--especially since the company hasn't taken trades on those games since June. Here in Chicago, there isn't a lick of anything left worth buying...I know that for sure.

there is absolutely nothing worth buying around the Lowell area in MA. One store nearby has an entire rack filled with them but every single one is disk only and they are all games like Tony Hawk, racing, wrestling, kiddie games, and sports. I wish they still took PS1 games.

Yeah I work at GameStop and the only 64 title worth getting is Oger Battle....at 25 bux. The thing is all of the other titles suck. But I guess it's working. A kid came in there the other day and bought like 6 crappy games.

I saw this almost 2 weeks ago but the stores around here haven't had crap for months. A friend of mine went back to VCU this week and said last time he was there they had "Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure" and some other great titles still lying around and will try to pick those up.

I can't find any Gamestops in my area that even have these games. I guess it's all for the best, considering there was a 3 in 5 chance the game wouldn't even work.

By the way, I strongly recommend looking for specific games in store via their website. A couple reasons:

1. Many stores are so disorganized they don't even know they have PSone and 64 games.
2. People that work there horde good games in the back and wait for a sale. If you talk to the manager (or the DM) they will often sell you what isn't on the floor. You just need to call them on it first!

This will give you a little advantage in snagging what little is left. If you have questions about GS/EB, I'm more than happy to help. :)

The closest Gamestop has jack shit when it comes to N64/PSone games. I recall seeing ONE N64 game (some soccer game) and a copy of Rhapsody. And that was it.

I'm suprised you haven't used their online store locator function. I just went to their site hoping to look up some psx/n64 titles...but it seems they have removed them from their site entirely.

This does work with anything you can find on their site though and is a great way to get the used 360 game you want while its still new. I got Rainbow 6: Vegas this way during their 35% off 360 game sale and only paid $40. I still recommend asking "whats in the back room?" if you have the balls to do it.

Their search feature is not as good as it had been in the past. Before you could type any game(that they would carry) and it would bring it up and you could check which stores had it with in 200 miles. Now it doesn't seem to carry many games at all - example search for Gradius and it will only bring up Gradius III & IV, though Gradius V, Gradius Collection, and Gradius Galaxies are all newer and are on formats which they would sell for. I have found many games in the past with this search but now the games I seek are not even in its database :(

The result of the terrible monster megalocorp located in Grapevine, TX known as GameStop. The amount of things they REMOVED from the EB database/computer system to simplify it for the menial retards they hire at their corp is beyond idiocy.

I can only pray--PRAY--that digital distribution comes sooner and puts that shoddy company and Mr. Fontaine out on the curb much sooner. Am I bitter? Yes. They bought my beloved EB (which was a great company) and ripped its guts out while continuing to trick the public into believing there are STILL two game stores by keeping the names different. Forcing minimum wage on your workers, lowering available hours and increasing goals was a great way to ensure that employees continued to do what GameStop fears the most....STEAL.

I wish my local EB had these kind of sales. They don't seem to have any sales. However they do get N64 and PSX games in fairly regularly. When did this sale start? I went to another EB this past Saturday and bought PSX games. There was no such sale. I'll check another EB tomorrow. I find Final Fantasy 7's all the time, as well as mario parties, smash bros etc. I don't think the Canadian Ebs received the Rhapsodies and Rez etc like the ones in the US did. I don't think I've seen one copy in Canada but tons in the US.

Wish I could take advantage of this, but unfortunately, most of the GameStops/EBs around here don't have anything, and the ones that do are down to the crappy loose PSX/N64 sports games.

"my" favorite EBGames haven't had PS1 games since the end of last summer, or maybe it was June. A few of the guys there did tell me that they kept the "better" games aside so they wouldn't get stolen or trashed. They let me see what they had whenever I went in (usually 2 or 3 times a week). And yes, I still stop in once in a while...

So... just the other day I stopped in at another location I hadn't been by since the shelf pull and massive sales the local stores had to dump as much of their "old" stock as possible. I was working quite a few miles from home and conveniently just happened to pass by at lunch time. Guy behind the counter remembered me. Since they're no longer in competition on the PS1 front, he pointed me to a GameCrazy almost right across the street (which I didn't know was there, shame on me!) I got a decent 3/$10 deal, btw... and found out about a few more stores MUCH closer to home...

Anyways... EBG guy told me that another location about an hour and a half from there got all of their PS1 stock, and is also one of the "consolidation" points. SO I'm hoping to get sent back out in THAT direction tomorrow. Or Monday. Or Tuesday... <itchitchscratchscratch> They probably just have crap left, but hey... I gotta look!

And yeah... I too miss the OLD EBGames stores!

Hmm, the Former Rhino store is the only place that has anything PS1 and N64 wise, but I got Monster Rancher 2 and Gallop Racer for PSX..

Well, one gamestop has about 15 PSX games left.

Anyone know of any stores in the Minneapolis area that have any PS1 games? The closest one to me (Block E) hasn't had any PS1 stuff for a long time...

I did pick up XIII for Xbox for $3 there tonight tho, pretty sweet game from what I've played so far.

There was some N64 games in the Gamestop on Rt. 17 in Rutherford, NJ, last summer. They looked aweful worse for wear though. The guy working there got very annoyed with me when I said I was looking for NES and SNES games. He felt they were horrible systems, both well below the high mark Atari 2600.

Lol That's EB and GS for ya, let's sell all the classics and go mainstream, those games are out of style now! *Rolls eyes*

Anyway I go to Gamecrazy where you can still actually buy PS1, NES, Dreamcast, SNES, Genesis, and other classics. That's the best to go to honestly. I got a really nice find there on the weekend, PSO ver.2

Well, they WERE the best place to go two or so years ago when the first two 3 for $15 classic plastic sales took place. Most GC's have pretty crappy classic selections now because people like me cleaned the good stuff out ;)

The sales are even cheaper now, it's 3 for 10 bucks. :)

My Gamecrazy has a good retro selection anyway.

I've gotten some pretty good PS1 deals at the local Gamestop over the last couple years, but they've been completely cleared out for months. They must have shipped their remaining stock somewhere else.

They used to be the best - until they implemented this space saving policy in which they discard cases and manuals for cd based games and placing them in sleves  At this rate Playstation and Dreamcast games will go the way of Genesis games as in the vast majority will be incomplete.

Fortunately, that practice appears to be YMMV - I have yet to know a local GameCrazy store that does that. However, a few stores have resorted to the dumb idea of putting some of their PS2, Xbox and Gamecube games in slim cases and messing up the case inserts to get them to fit. :shameful:

However, I have a feeling that even GameCrazy is going to stop carrying classic stuff within a year or two, so get 'em while you can. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

I have a gamestop out here in MA that still has PS1 and N64. Do they still have this sale going on or have they done away with it. I'd figure they are going to have it until everything is cleared out. And by the way, if anyone like dumpster diving, i got an inside tip from a Blockbuster employee about 4 years ago that they THROW AWAY the games that don't sell after a while. Talk about a waste, and you guys think throwing the case away was bad.

Heck, the Indy Racing game (Infrogames?) and Tony Hawk 3 are both worth grabbing. For N64, anyway.

It is well known that rental chains like Blockbuster throw away some games ;) I'm sure at least a couple people reading weren't aware, though, so no harm in restating it. To take it further, I understand they destroy the games first, before throwing them out, and are able to consider it a write off of some sorts. That was the story I always heard, anyway. I never worked at a rental store so I wouldn't know. It doesn't seem like it would happen all that often, though, since most places keep on marking them down until they do sell. Even the disc only sports games disappear after awhile when the price gets low enough. In my area they do, because I usually grab them since one of my sicknesses is not liking to see a $1.99 game (sports or otherwise) go unclaimed, even if I already have 3-4 copies of it.

The one in my area had some GREAT games -- Doom, Myst, Darklight Conflict, Star Gladiator Episode 1, VR Golf '97, Destraga, Carnage Heart & Civilization II.

Now if only they can do the same for the PS2 games.....

I picked up some great things at my local Eb Games from this sale; Rhapsody, Brave Fencer Musashi, Medievil 2, Rpg Maker, Myst, and Warcraft II: The Dark Saga. Overall, all of them are in great condition, but they're all loose. Oh well.
They had Chocobo Racing too, but it looked like it had been microwaved, then cut with a knife, then thrown down the steps. Someone got a sharpie and put an arrow through the chocobo's head. Yeah, people have problems with Chocobos. >_<

I went into the local Game Crazy and they are going the way of the space saver Genesis incompletes. I saw a bin of 3 for $10 games and picked out some gems. 3 Conker's Bad Fur Day carts. I bought them and the guy said, "Too bad you didn't come in a month ago. We had to tear up all the boxes and carts and take the one out of the plastic baggie." I guess he saw my jaw hit the floor. Oh well still a good deal but its a shame they have to do it. Also got a sealed copy of C-12 Final Reistance, Fear Effect, and Colony Wars for $10.

Moral of the story head on down to Game Crazy A.S.A.P. and save some games.

I'm afraid its too late for the Detroit area Game Crazy's :( They started this about a 1 1/2 year ago. At the time I was able to "save" a few long box Playstation games. When I got them the dude said they were getting rid of all the cases so they could save space :shameful:

I went by EB since I'm getting back into the DC and I knew they had some loose CDs tucked in amongst the PSX and N64 clearance. Walked out with Sonic Shuffle, Dino Crisis, Toy Commando, and NFL2K (complete). Turns out DC stuff was being closed at at 75% off too. Plus, with my Edge card, total with tax, out the door, $3.25 for everything. I may go back tomorrow and just grab every dang loose DC game they have just for the tradebox.

Yeah, I've visted at least 3 or 4 different Gamestop/EB locations around Houston with nary an N64 or PSone game to be found.

However.....they all seem to be offering Buy 2, Get 1 Free on original Xbox games, and I've been loading up!

our game stop has tons of 64 games but with the prices they want buy one get 10 free still wouldnt be a good deal. I strongly dislike gamestop at least the ones around here. The mananger is a first class Butt and a lot of the employees are just there for a pay check.

My boyfriend and his brother still work for GameStop and I'm encouraging them to get out. When the Toys R Us I worked for closed last March, I went to work with them at GameStop so I could stay local and not have to drive 15-20 minutes to the nearest Toys R Us. But I couldn't stand working there for more than 3 months of making $2 less than I was at TRU because they wouldn't start me more than $7 (and I was lucky to get that since minimum wage was still $6.75 then) despite the fact that I had 4 years' experience in the TRU RZone and 6 years in retail in general for only 4 hours a week and I went back to Toys R Us despite having to drive 17 miles to and from my new store. It's worth it to get my old wage back and be back up to 25-30 hours a week and to actually get respect from my managers. My boyfriend didn't even get his W-2s last year from GameStop and they did nothing about it despite him harrassing his manager to call corporate on a a daily basis. He would've done it himself but his manager assured him he didn't have to cuz she'd take care of it. That company is bullshit. But I can't stop buying used DVDs and GameBoy games...Anyway, to get on the more specific GameStop-related topic of the PS1/N64 sale, a few months after my boyfriend's GS pulled their PS1/N64 stuff off, I was in the store visiting like I do A LOT and I was in the doorway to the backroom and saw a huge box marked PS1/N64 games on the very top shelf and I forget if they said it was being shipped out or not. If it's still there I know they'll let me look through it because A)It's my boyfriend and his brother that I've known for 8 years and 2)Their coworkers are just as cool to me. They probably have very few worthy games left. I know my boyfriend grabbed a copy of Rhapsody and I think it was the only Rhapsody.

But what's unfortunate is that while Massachusetts has dozens upon dozens of GSs and EBs, there is only 1 GameCrazy. Or, at least only 1 near me. If there are others, they're probably in Western MA. The only time I was at that GC they had only a couple things I was mildly interested in. But the guy was cool cuz I asked if he had any Game Gear games and he made the effort to dig out this box full of odds and ends despite the fact that it only had, like 3 Game Gear carts and it was either stuff I had or stuff I didn't want. I have to go there again because their stock has had to have changed since last summer. I still enjoy GameZone in Salem, MA, although I haven't been there in almost a year, despite the fact that I now work 1 town over.

The sale in my area turned out to be a bust. I managed to grab some games about 10 days ago and tried going back 2-3 days later. The bastards "shipped them all to another store."

So all the N64 and PS1 games that were in my local EB store are probably on their way to a location near one of you reading this. Nothing much left over but getting a couple dozen complete copies of games from the Madden and Gameday series for 30 cents each isn't a bad way to spend a few bucks. I could take them to 1-2 pawn shops and get more than that in return or just stack them on a shelf.
