Complete with video and tutorial. Put your own songs, complete with your own notes, into Guitar Hero II for the PS2.

Yeah, I saw one hacked version that was uploaded on a bittorrent site not too long ago. But whoever hacked it filled it up with faggy anime music, so I didn't even bother with the download.

That set list looks pretty good though, NE1. I'll have to look for that one.

so are the songs all seperated like in the real thing (ie you miss a note, there is silence)?

Hey NE1, can you tip us off to what torrent site you got that hack from? I checked all my usual sources and couldn't find it.

Ahhh, you're right. I guess I got too excited and missed that part.

Well my ISP puts a 2Gb per-month cap on my usenet downloads, so I doubt I'd be able to grab this.

You need an newsgroup/usenet account to download it, that link just references where it was posted.

Yes I got it off Usenet. It's posted in Alt.binaries.cd.image.playstation2.dvdiso and alt.binaries.alizee. Here's a direct link to the NZB (http://binsearch.info/?q=Guitar+Hero+2+*****Hackers+Edition*&max=25&adv_age=50&server=). The posting sucks and if you're not good with filenames, then good luck, as you have to rename all the files to get the PARs to even work. But there you have it.

My review of the disc is.. maybe a C+. I mean it's ok but you gotta realize that every song is only playable on one difficulty level (usually expert). Trying any other one not listed in the .nfo freezes the game.

But, my biggest complaint is the quality of the fingering for many songs really varies. Like the one for Aces High sucks ass! It's like you're not even playing the song and just hitting buttons while the song plays in the background. It may be a timing issue but I think even if it was perfectly timed, the choice of fingerings just sucks (obviously just some joe schmoe out there made it LOL). That being said some are really good, like the video game music (I think it's the Mini Bosses), the fingering really feels like the song. So yeah, some are really good, some are really bad. So take it for what you will

Still though, it's free. It's worth a download.

Yeah the posting of it sucks hardcore. Good thing there is par, to bad you have to rename all the files to use it.

My ISP doesn't allow me to see those newsgroups.. :(

Can't someone put them up on a torrent somewhere?

Thanks.

A torrent for this was just upped to blackcats-games.net.

Yeah I generally view Torrents as last resort. Basically cuz they're slow as crap :p on my connection, a 4 gig image takes:

on usenet = about an hour and a half
On torrents = who knows... sometimes over a day :drinking:

so are the songs all seperated like in the real thing (ie you miss a note, there is silence)?no, the actual game contains 2 tracks, the guitar & beat. When a note is missed the guitar track is muted.

meh, it's not great and it's not bad. A LOT of songs are out of sync :-/ with a mess of finger placement, not to mention some sections are missing entirely (Avenged Sevenfold). In order to re-create the missed-note silence, the music is turned down in volume, which makes it annoying during chord changes. As soon as you lift off that finger, the volume drops.
