I stated a few days ago in my Zelda thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95617) that I would be creating threads of my favorite series. These threads would contain pictures of my collection and in turn users could share pictures of their collections from these respective series. Next up, my second favorite series, Dragon Warrior/Quest.
Here is a picture of my collection:
http://www.theretrogamer.net/temp/dw-dq/dw-dq-all-dp.jpg
It includes:
1) Dragon Warrior (NES - complete)
2) Dragon Warrior II (NES - complete)
3) Dragon Warrior III (NES - complete)
4) Dragon Warrior IV (NES - complete)
5) Dragon Quest I/II (SFC - complete)
6) Dragon Quest V (SFC - complete)
7) Dragon Quest VI (SFC - complete)
8) Dragon Warrior VII (PSX - complete)
9) Dragon Quest VIII (PS2 - complete)
10) Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (NDS - complete)
11) Dragon Warrior IV Strategy guide (Tokuma)
12) Dragon Quest VI Strategy guide (V-Jump)
UPDATES BELOW!!!!
I do not collect the Monster's games as they do not appeal to me and I do not consider them as a "true" part of the DW/DQ tale. I also have some more guides to find as well.
What do you guys think of my DW/DQ collection? What does yours look like? Can't wait to see some nice pics!
Enjoy!
-Carl
UPDATE!!! (Jan 25th, 2007)
Added 2 more items to my collection:
1) Dragon Warrior Strategy Guide
2) Torneko's Great Adventure: Mysterious Dungeon (SFC - complete)
http://www.theretrogamer.net/temp/dw-dq/dwguide-tsfc-dp.jpg
I am not big into the DW/DQ side stories, but I picked up Torneko because I got it for $3.50. It doesn't hurt that he played a semi-important role in Dragon Warrior 4 either. This game tells the story about his quest to open the world's largest weapon shop after the events of DW4.
Question for you guys!?!? I only bought the minty Nintendo Power Issue #9 for the Dragon Warrior Strategy Guide. Do I remove the staples and take it out or do I leave it stapled in??
UPDATE!!! #2 (Jan 28th, 2007)
Added another item to my collection today:
1) Dragon Quest III (SFC - complete)
http://www.theretrogamer.net/temp/dw-dq/dq3-dp.jpg
UPDATE!!! #3 (Feb 13th, 2007)
Added another item to my collection today:
1) Dragon Warrior I/II (GBC - complete)
http://www.theretrogamer.net/temp/dw-dq/dw12-gbc-dp.jpg
I did not ever plan to pick up the GBC versions since I could play them on the NES and SNES, but I couldn't pass this up for $9.49!! What a steal!
I have also managed to finally get a Dragon Warrior 2 Unveiled Secret's Booklet. Pictures of that will come later when it arrives. (hopefully soon)

Cool man! no GBA versions? :hmm: I have DW1 complete (NES) and Dragon Warrior III loose (GBC) so I'm lacking on that series at the moment.
So what's going to be your next installment? :D

Thanks!
I will assume you are referring to the Gameboy Color versions of DW1/2 and DW3. I am not as big a fan of handhelds and since I already have 2 iterations of each of these (as soon as I get DQ3 SFC) they are not high on my want list right now. I will, however, look for these in the future!

But you consider Rocket Slime a part of the tale?

Yes I meant GBC not GBA LOL oops! Come to think about it, I should actually should hurry up and grab DQ VIII while I can since It's $20 now.
Poofta!
01-19-2007, 08:58 PM
also missing Torneko: the last hope. which is infinitely more closely related to DW than poket slime, or hte Monsters games.

But you consider Rocket Slime a part of the tale?
No I do not consider that as a part of the "tale" either, but since it wasn't directly related to the Monsters (Pokemon style) games I bought it. And since it is a Dragon Quest game, it made it into the picture.
Anyone got pics of their DW/DQ collections?

Dragon Warrior's only happens to be my favorite series, after Shining Force. :P
I have no qualms over spinoffs, but am much less interested in the Japanese releases than CK is. Although I would love to buy a reproduction cart for Dragon Quest V, it's one of my favorite games from the series.

Nice. Very nice. Only DW games I've got are
Dragon Warrior-NES
Dragon Warrior I & II-GBC Instructions
Dragon Warrior III-GBC Complete
Dragon Warrior VII-PSone Complete
They have a copy of Dragon Warrior IV at a store I go to for old games but they want $65 for that baby. I get 10% off with my discount but that's still a lot of green. I also should pick up Dragon Quest VIII. At $20, that game is a steal.
Now that Square-Enix is a single company it'd be nice if they gave the earlier Dragon Quest games the same treatment the first six Final Fantasy games got on the GBA or DS.

I will be honest and say that I did not even know they made MSX2 versions of DQ 1 and2. And although I have no interest in them, thats pretty neat!!
Here is a YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erz98uJZxec) of DQ1 on the MSX2.

Damn nice collections there ckendal and Daria!.
Id have to borrow a cam to get a pic, but all i got is DW 1 and DW 2 so its not really worth it.
I dont think my DW II is complete either, i think i just got the box, cart, map and instructions ... isnt there another poster and a hint book? i want a better box for it too as mine has some wear and a small rip. Also i cant seem to fit all the inserts and stuff into my DW 1 box without the box expanding, abnormally. Do you know how to fit everything in perfectly?
One last thing, do you think you could give me a list for what DW 1-4 come with complete? I need it for the future. Kudos.

Thank you!
On to your question:
DW1 - box, manual, map, adventure card, explorer's handbook, yellow tips paper, poster (another chart on back side)
DW2 - box, manual, map (there were 2 send away items; another map and the unveiled secrets booklet)
DW3 - box, explorer's handbook, map
DW4 - box, 2 maps, explorer's handbook (the tokuma strat guide was a send away from the back of the handbook, $10.99)
The explorer's handbook is THE manual for both DW3 and 4.
I did not open all my stuff up so this is off the top of my head, if I am missing something please let me know! Yes, I have all this except the damn Unveiled Secret's Booklet so if anyone has one and is willing to sell, please let me know!
Thanks,
Carl

How long does it take to beat Dragon Warrior VII on the PSone? I mean, if you're not messing around with side quests and such. My copy is still sealed. Guess I should play it before I start DQVIII. And if anyone hasn't gotten it yet, the Rocket Slime DS game is $24.99 new at GameStop.

Hey guys :)
They're a collection of weapons used in the Dragon Quest series. There have been 4 series released (the most recent back in November 2006). You can still get the most recent set from eBay but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for them because they are hard to complete (The earlier sets are next to impossible to find).
The first series was based on DQ 1 - 3
The second was based on DQ 4 - 6
The third had a metal king theme but included weapons from all series (included some other collectibles like the DQ8 alchemy pot)
The fourth had a slime weapon theme but included weapons from all series (they included some other collectibles like stones of sunlight, staff of rain and the rainbow drop)
As stated, these are not cheap.. each series could cost $150 or more.. to add to the cost, there are chase items as well (short-packed items) like roto's armor, metal king armor, etc.. those will cost anywhere from $50 - $200 each...

Since I got the DW1/2 GBC, I must get the DW3 GBC now, right? I thought so myself, so I have a deal in the works for that as well!
How is everyone else's stuff shaping up? Anyone want to post pics?

First off, that collection is nothing short of amazing.
I have Dragon Warrior 1 for my NES, and I cherish it. Not only is it one of my favorite RPG series, but it was the first game I ever played, at the age of 2. I watched my older brother play it for hours, so i learned through watching him how to play it. It also taught me how to read, even though it was in Old English, which gave my Pre-Kindergarten teacher a good laugh or two.
I actually have that game in my room, I think.

All I have are factory sealed copies of Dragon Warrior VII and Torneko: The Last Hope (Both American), and a factory sealed PAL version of Dragon Quest VIII on the PS2. I also have a Rocket Slime PS2 controller ~ It's the Japanese one though, but I didn't realise until after I had won the auction. I later discovered that there was also a limited edition silver coloured Slime controller too, which I would've preferred...
I have a question: The American release of Dragon Quest VIII on the PS2 ~ Is it just a standard case, or is it a cardboard case, as it looks like it comes in a cardboard case from all the pictures I have seen of it. Cheers
